Una década tras otra las videoconsolas fueron evolucionando y saliendo nuevas marcas e industrias al mercado y aunque muchos no se atrevían a entrar en este mundo, algunas marcas como Mattel invirtieron en ellas. Sin embargo Atari domino el mercado por muchos años, aunque también habían otras marcas que le seguían el rastro y era la mayor competencia como Colecovision, y Mattel Intellivision.

En la generación Z o centúrica, mi generación :), entro otra marca al mundo de las videoconsolas exactamente en la 5ta generación de estas, la Empresa Sony lanzo al mercado el PlayStation 1, ¿Y adivinen que paso?
A pesar de ser una empresa desconocida en este mundo, PlayStation rompió los estándares de todos los aficionados y videojugadores del mundo, esta fue una de las consolas que pasaron de traer videojuegos en 2D al 3D, esto ayudo mucho a Sony a catapultar su consola a las primeras posiciones, rompiendo la racha y el dominio de Nintendo en el mercado. PlayStation se convirtió en la primera consola en vender mas de 100 Millones de consolas a nivel mundial, y no solo eso si no que también poseía la característica de ser los primeros en lanzar videojuegos en CD, dejando a un lado los cartuchos de plástico y los disquetes.

Nuevamente nintento no se quedaría atrás y en el año 98 sacaron otra versión de su consola original Game Boy Color, a pesar de esto PlayStation había llegado para quedarse, ya que cada año sacaban nuevos videojuegos que atraían a todo el mundo, el entorno 3D fue lo que envolvió a todos los videojugares, se conoce PlayStation tuvo mas de 8000 videojuegos a lo largo de su vida, ademas anunciara su modelo Slim o PSOne que era la misma versión original pero con nuevo diseño y recorte de costados, ademas de eliminar el botón de reset e incluirlo junto al de encendido y apagado.

Muchos sabrán entonces que el mercado de videoconsolas esta entre las empresas Sony, Nintendo, y nada mas y nada menos que Microsoft con el lanzamiento de su Xbox en el año 2001, sin embargo Xbox no tuvo tanto poderío en el mercado aunque su consola tuvo gran cantidad de ventas en toda su vida, al igual que la Ps1 se lanzo al mercado siendo una desconocida y aunque muchos la aceptaron, otros esperaban por la version Slim de PsOne y otros por la PS2.

Y es que a pesar de haber anunciado la salida de otras consolas en el 2005-2006 por parte de Sony y Microsoft, PS2 seguía teniendo ventas increíbles, es la única consola en el mundo cuyo periodo de vida y soporte siguieron vigentes compartiendo el mercado con estas otras consolas de la 7ma generación, asi que la PS2 opaco otras consolas por muchos años.
Expertos aseguran que aunque PS3 tenia una interfaz de usuario y mejoras graficas, la gente preferia PS2 por sus videojuegos ya que les ofrecían lo mismo que en su ultima consola, el videojuego que mas ventas tuvo fue Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, con mas de 30M de copias vendidas. Y otra cosa que hizo que se mantuviera en el mercado fue su costo, mucho menor al de PS3, la verdad esto fue una de las grandes causas.
God Of War, Need For Speed Most Wanted, Gran Turismo y Resident Evil sin duda alguna fueron los atractivos por que los usuarios elegían esta consola.
Así que esta fue una pequeña vuelta al pasado, para recordar las consolas mas vendidas en toda su historia, y la numero 1 de la tabla de posiciones en ventas. Sin duda alguna son cifras monstruosas, y creo que estas cifras no aumentaron significativamente en el PS4 o cualquier otra consola, debido a los PC GAMER, que también ocupan gran parte del mercado, incluso si no se le fuese añadido la opciones de partidas online y enlace a la Red a las consolas creo que habrían sido abandonadas hace mucho tiempo.
Ademas de agregarle nuevas herramientas y mejoras para la interfaz, en unos años quien sabe como serán las siguientes consolas, y quien sabe que tan populares y accesibles sean las siguientes.
