And after ridding Asafran City of Team Rocket, a different atmosphere was already felt throughout the place. Now we could go for the Gym challenge with a clear conscience. But there was a problem: there were two Gyms in this city.
We decided to enter the one that welcomed us with open doors first. Inside, a kind of dojo where all the trainers used fighting-type Pokémon, we alternated between Pokémon to gradually level up. Something also unusual was that we always had one battle after another without the chance to rest, as if we were actually practicing martial arts.
The flagship Pokémon of this Gym were Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan (now that I think about it, possibly inspired by Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan). When we finally defeated the Gym leader, he asked us not to take his badge and instead offered us a choice between the two Pokémon. This time, I decided on a classic Hitmonlee, specialized in physical attacks.
The second gym represented a completely different challenge. Its system was also a kind of portal where we had to try out or follow a certain mental pattern to defeat the trainers, each in their own chamber. The Psychic-type Pokémon were very hard to defeat, due to their high level and the Poison-type of our starter, which is weak against these attacks.
And we wasted half an hour trying to find their leader, Sabrina, who gave us a good beating, leaving only one of our Pokémon standing. She managed to defeat her Alakasan thanks to the Drains that Venusaur managed to use on it, an attack that was slowly wearing it down. The only challenge was just getting out, but we did it.
And that's it for today's chapter. We're getting closer to the league, and now that Team Rocket is gone, all we have to do is go for those badges. Thanks for reading, my friends.
