The Tale of Yu the Wu continues!
After a roaring start in Part 1, thank you so much for all the support I got in that post, Yu continues his quest in Greece.
Having collected the Proper Offering, Yu goes to Delphi to see the Oracle. After that it is off to the Parnassus caves and you are met with this sight:
Right so I actually battled a Cyclops in the previous bit but it was less of a deal for me than it would be for new players. The first time I saw Polyphemus, it was quite terrifying and now it is just is what it is, a bit of a speedbump in the road to the first Telkine. Barely batted an eyelash.
So now we find the statue of a scared-looking Cyclops and of course, more stone figures of people holding up their hands or cowering away.
Of course, this could only mean one thing.
Yes, the Gorgon Queen herself - Medusa stands in your way! Prior to this the boss battles that are challenging to new players would be Nessus the Centaur and Plyphemus the Cyclops but THIS boss battle is the real test of your character's strength.
Medusa comes with two of her sisters, each with their own abilities. The one with the electric bow can heal the other two and the other sister uses a spear.
If you can manage it, try kill the healer first. It will help in the long run. Killing Medusa first is more challenging and killing the spear-user is often the only way to really get to ther other two without too much pain.
Either way you will want to stock up on potions when see the Cyclops as it will require at least a bit of kiting to get done.
Out of the caves, across the countryside and to Athens, you meet up with your old buddy Leonidas breaking through an army of besieging monsters and say hello.
Athens also has a temple with some corrupted priest ghost man. I did not take a screenshot of him either for the battle was brief and unexciting. Maybe he will be more formiddable in Epic Difficulty.
After that you sail to the island of Knossos and work your way through a few more Act 1 Side quests across the mountain ridges until you get to the Palace of Knossos, Seat of the King of the Minoans.
You fight powerful automatols, mechanical greek warriors... or are they Minoans? Are those the same? Checks Wikipedia "The Minoan civilization was a Bronze Age Aegean civilization on the island of Crete and other Aegean Islands, whose earliest beginnings were from c. 3500 BC" Apparently they were NOT Greeks but they helped shape the Greek civilization. Interesting!
You also see this... and you are glad that this thing is not moving... wait till you get to a harder difficulty level!
You then get to experience the joys of the Minoan Maze... the Minotaur maze where even your minimap is confused and useless! Just keep heading in the direction of mosters that are alive and you will be fine!
You meat a bunch of creatures including minotaurs but then...
You face off against the Minotaur King. This is a formiddable opponent for newbies. Don't let him charge up his Onslaught too much or else he will easily overpower you but...
He's not that tough...
Immediately after the Minotaur King you are faced with the first Telkine, the very one that you see in the into scenematic. He's busy breaking the conduit with the gods. In the meantime you get to fight some statues while he does just that, while shielded.
He succeeds, but you get to fight and defeat him. Its a fairly tough boss, but I think that if you can handle Medusa and the Minotaur King, you should be able to defeat the Telkine as well. This series is full of mid-way bosses that are somewhat tougher than some of the end bosses.
This Telkine dropped me a nice Set Item. There become more powerful the more of the set you collect. Sadly, one character does not often collect all the parts of a set in time for it to be useful to you and you will have outgrown the set by the time you get all the pieces.
You can replay the game and continue collecting items and eventually completing some sets. I just use whatever is the strongest at the time. We have a long way to go still so its best to feel that you do not need to grind for low level sets and just proceed.
You end the Act 1 with this little boat. You are on your way yo Egypt!
Titan Quest Act 1 COMPLETE!
See you next time!
