「 You don't have to follow the hype 」
Sometimes you don’t understand some aversion you have towards things. You simply don’t like them and no further questions are asked.
Just like this coffee shop that though it’s pretty normal, I never really like them. It’s not on top of my list but a friend of mine dragged me there and to be fair, quite a few times, I found myself being dragged to go there.
This coffee shop is trendy. It’s filled with people who dress as if they’re in Paris fashion week. I could be exaggerating but if you dress shabby here, ready to get that head to toe look from the patrons. It’s called Convo and honestly not just the fashion choice that’s not really too casual friendly, it’s also the fact that we might encounter our highschool friends which for some of us can be a nightmare.
You know, sometimes the past is the past. So, that’s also why even within my closest circle we avoid this place like a plague just because we don’t want to be bumping into friends that peak in high school but still think life is the way it was.
I could list more and more things about the place but in the end, I was there. My friend picked the place and because I was bored, I said OK.
Their coffee doesn’t intrigue me much. It’s not that it’s bad. It’s just…you know, mediocre at best. They’re not the place where you’d get quality coffee. So, when I was there I didn’t even order their coffee. I ordered their mocktail which wasn’t that bad. I only wished it was a real wine though because that would’ve been better 😆
Inside this cafe, there are plenty of other services offered from restaurants to an Iphone repair center. So, it’s like a one stop place to get everything done while also chatting away with your friends. There’s even a photobox where you can take a professional headshot and print it out. Perhaps, it’s why this place is always packed with people, as it’s not only a cafe that’s found here but other services that a patron might need.
It was afternoon when we got there and the clouds were scattered all around with the moon slowly peeking waiting for its time.My friend and I also sampled one of the dimsum stalls inside Convo Cafe. We shared a plate of a dim sum which turned out pretty okay. It wasn’t the best dimsum I've tried but it was good enough to fill an empty stomach.
Since it was only my friend who ordered coffee, she told me the coffee was fine. It wasn’t something extra ordinary but just fine to her liking. Personally, I do not like their coffee at all. There’s something about their coffee that just tastes a little too much and overpowering. But this place is sure to be more affordable than many coffee shops and cafes in town offering similar menu and selections.
In the end, my review is pretty biased just cause I have this unknown reason of not liking the place. It’s just that strong aversion towards it that I just couldn’t find out why. So, I am willing to settle for that but what I enjoyed was definitely the time I spent with a friend of mine, catching up about life and whatnot.
After that, we went to Mcdonald's to get the last dessert of the day. In the end, I enjoyed the Mcdonald experience more haha.
