There’s a cafe in town that I kept seeing being empty. It doesn’t look that bad from the outside, it looks homey and a cafe that I would love to visit. I just didn’t have the opportunity until today, when I finally got the chance to actually see why it’s struggling.
Still on the same topic as finding adventure, this time, I found that sense of adventure. Thanks to @namiks recommendation on finding more adventure, I eventually checked out this cafe and just went without any second thoughts.
As soon as I entered, I was greeted by 2 girls who aren’t exactly looking like a barista. It’s as if they were paid to be there, just to attend to the customer. When I made my order, I eventually asked if they accept cashless payment and apparently their machine broke or something. But after I said that I didn’t have any cash on me, they were willing to help me. So, I eventually paid and scanned through the place.
Their lawn is pretty neat. It has a good layout with various seatings that look pretty comfortable. I can see myself spending the afternoon and waiting until the sun goes down in this place. Except when it gets darker, it gets creepier with all the rooms being empty. I guess in this place, it’s like a breeding ground for indecency and later, actually some friends and family confirmed having to feel that vibe in the place.
Unfortunately, after settling in myself, I saw a man in his 40’s approach me. He’s one of the staff that worked in the place. He asked me where I was from, why I was alone, and all the questions that seemed a bit odd in this setting. Typically, cafe staff would leave you alone anywhere. So, eventually, I replied and sent a message that I didn’t want to be bothered.
It took about 30 minutes before I got my drink and I was shocked to find my drink was just actually a poor coffee. It was terrible and I don’t think they even used real coffee and even espresso at all. It tasted like a common sachet instant coffee at the price of a cafe made coffee.
When I drank my coffee, the man approached me back, whining about the economy and how he’s lost his income. He asked me if I know someone in need of an apartment or housing because he knows a place that he could get commission on. I said that I didn’t need it. He went on further telling me how he broke his phone and doesn’t have the means to eat anymore and find jobs.
As much as I could sympathize, that was an odd conversation I’ve had in a while.
Since I was alone there, after finishing the drink, I went home right away. It was bad to be in the place for so long considering it was so empty and eerie too with so many empty spaces unoccupied and so secluded.
I uploaded the story to my Whatsapp and some of my family & friends commented, the place is a no-go-zone. It’s one of those places that we should avoid because everything is just terrible but they did nothing about it. Now, I certainly won’t ever go back there and that’s another blacklisted cafe in my cafe book 😂
But I had fun. I had that sense of adventure and unpredictability I was looking for. With the usual coffee shops I go to, it’s all comfort and you will never encounter such. So, there it goes.
