Greetings!
Today, I am happy to share with the community my first mango harvest of the year. About more than a week ago, my wife took one piece of mango and she wrapped it with paper. She said to me, "I will try to ripen this mango to see if we can now harvest all the mangoes".
I was skeptical at the time because I think the mango she picked from our mango tree is still young. I actually forgot the mango that my wife wrapped. And yesterday morning when I am cleaning our room I accidentally found the mango I immediately unwrapped the mango and to my surprise, it was already ripe.
To my excitement, I want to eat it right away, but I first showed it to my wife, she smiled after she saw it and told me, "See, I told you", and then I immediately get a knife sliced it and we taste it, it was so sweet!
After we ate the ripe mango, I immediately took my smartphone and took some photos of my mangoes before I am going to harvest them later in the afternoon.

I was so happy while I am photographing my mangoes because this will be the first time that I am going to have a good harvest. The previous harvests were a lot fewer than this year.
This is actually the first batch of harvest for this year. There will be another two batches of harvests I think because there are still lots of mangoes left after this harvest.

And then later in the afternoon (yesterday, before sunset), I started harvesting my mangoes by hand because there are lots of mangoes that I can pick by hand (which I am going to show you on a short video at the end of this blog).
I also made a mango hook with a bag catcher so that the mangoes that are out of my reach will be easier to harvest instead of climbing the mango tree itself.
Below is the mango hook that I made with a plastic bag catcher that I attached on a long bamboo stick.

And then after I harvested by hand it is now time to harvest using the mango hook that I made. Using a hook in harvesting mangoes is quite easy but I have to be careful because some mangoes may fall and will be damaged.

After harvesting I think I managed to pick more than twenty kilos of mangoes which will going to be wrapped on paper to ripen. This harvest is actually going to be for our personal consumption only. I can't wait for them to ripen. Below are the mangoes that I harvested.
By the way, I actually love ripe mangoes very much.
And now it is time to prepare them for storage and let them ripen. Just like what my father is always doing back then I also wipe each mango with a clean cloth to remove the sticky liquid that is being secreted by the mango itself after picking.

And then my wife is the one who is wrapping the mangoes in a piece of paper which will speed up the ripening process.

After wrapping all the mangoes we put them into a container and cover them with some ventilation.
Also, as promised here's a short video of me while I am showing off the mangoes that I can pick with my hands (I actually almost forgot to add this video).
By the way, did I tell you guys about the mango my wife picked and wrapped on paper? Below is a photo of that mango, and the next photo is what it looks like after I sliced it. To my excitement and because I am already drooling I immediately ate the other slice before I realized that I should take a photo of it.
That is all for now, happy harvesting to everyone!
