Okay... we've never tried growing veggies from seedlings... so, this will be a bit of a hit and miss adventure! For this, I decided I would recruit my kids to help out... and they are on holidays anyway, and need to get out of the house as well.
So, first things first... decided what would go where... putting the packets in place, and then preparing the soil. Just watering it a bit so that it wasn't quite so dry at the top of the layer. There is a lot of water underneath, but perhaps not quite enough to get the seedlings going.

I think that next time, we will get ourselves a seed strip or something like that to help with the spacing of the seeds. It is really really hard to space the seeds when you are trying to pour them out of the packet... so, we do have clips of seeds this time. On the other hand, I'm not really sure what will make it to seedling stage, and what will progress further to growth... and what will actually be ending up to be edible. I'm sort of expecting a pretty damn high attrition rate!

I think for the next week, we really aren't going to see much... I have a feeling that we probably buried the seeds a little bit too densely and a bit too deep... but it was still a nice way to spend the morning with the girls. The food is a bit of a secondary thing!

.... and while I was out the back there... I had to start tidying up all the grass and weeds that love the overflow from the hot water and the reverse cycle heat pumps that dump water onto the ground! Sigh... never ending list of things to do... best to do it while I'm there with a few spare minutes!
