Hey nature lovers I hope your orchards and gardens are giving flowers and fruits, we are already in April waiting for the rainy season where everything is born and blooms, time to prepare the land, now the birds are making nests and collecting and spacing seeds doing their job beautifully, I love how the birds embellish with their colors, flight and singing. But this is not a Bird post hehehehe.... Today I want to share with the community my #gardenjournal fertilizing my fruit trees, this time with ash.
One of my curiosities at the beginning of this path to start planting edible garden in @vida.verde was to know more about this costuble that exists in my country Venezuela, to perform controlled burns before in the family land as part of the preparation of the land to then plant the "Conúco".
The Conúcos are family farms whose main crop is corn, cassava and beans, a trilogy planting an excellent crop association for its development.
At the beginning I thought that burning was only an easier way to kill weeds that were left after the cleaning of the land and that could affect the planting and if this is one of them, there are even people who only do it by tradition without really knowing all the benefits of ash for our plants.

But as I am curious and observant I started to investigate more, we do not burn, but the neighbor does, I saw the difference in the results between our crop and the neighbor's, his corn grew faster, stronger and super loaded and without pest problems.
Here are some of the benefits of using the ash:
✳️ PH control: It's all in the ash, the ash helps to control the PH of the soil,
✳️ Decompact the soil: here we have clay soil, we have used agricultural lime to decompact the soil and level its acidity, we have been testing with the ash and we see good results.
✳️ Nourish the plants: Ashes are also a powerful fertilizer of has phosphorus, potassium and calcium ideal for fruit trees gives very good results.
✳️ The use of ash also prevents and kills fungi that may be in the soil, I am just now testing its effectiveness with this avocado tree that is growing happily, in fruit trees you can put it directly on the base and if you want to remove a little soil.
✳️ It is ideal to avoid aphids and other unwanted insects, the ash is wonderful to avoid fungus and right now I am using it for them.
The best thing is that the ash is free so now every time we use the campfire we have this wonderful fertilizer, anti fungus, PH leveler and natural repellent for plants.without a doubt all the answers are in nature itself 😉.
