Hello hivers and garden lovers! It’s me again, and today I want to share something very helpful and close to my heart – passionfruit. This fruit is not only beautiful and tasty, but it also helps our family in many ways. We grow it, we eat it and we also sell it. Passionfruit is really a big blessing for us gardeners.
We plant passionfruit in vacant spaces near our house and around the garden. If there is an empty spot, we plant it there. Passionfruit is very easy to grow. You can even just throw the seed on the ground and they will start growing in just 2 weeks.
After eating the fruit, we dry the seeds and plant the directly in the soil. In just a few weeks, the seedlings will come out. We use the existing trees or fences to let them climb. It’s a vine plant, so it likes to spread and climb high. In our place, where the weather is cool, passionfruit grows really well.
Passionfruit doesn’t need to much care. We sometimes remove the weeds and in six months, it will already give fruits. That’s what I Love most – it grows fast and keeps giving more fruits again and again.
The fruits start to turn yellow or purple when they are ready. Sometimes they even fall to the ground when they’re ripe. That’s the time we collect them.
This recent harvest came from only 8 passionfruit plants, but we were able to harvest almost 100 kilos! Just imagine how many fruits you can get even if you plant only one. That’s how productive and amazing this plant really is.
This fruit is no chemical, no fertilizer and no pesticides, a 100 percent organic. The fruit has a sweet and sour taste and smells very fresh. You can eat it as it is or you van make it into juice. Many people love passionfruit because it is healthy and refreshing.
We sell our passionfruit to people in our community. Some buy it in wholesale at 25 pesos per kilo, then they resell it in the market at 50 pesos per kilo That’s why it’s very saleable – people love it and it brings us extra money.
It’s a big help, especially when we need small money or daily needs. Passionfruit may look simple but it really helps a lot.
As a gardener, I realized that we don’t need big land or expensive tools to earn from planting, with a little space and a good plant like passionfruit we can already help our family. Passionfruit taught me that small things can give big blessings. It’s not hard to grow and it gives so much in return.
