One of our source of income is the vegetable business managed by my husband. It's been five years and counting. I didn't expect my husband take it seriously. Oh well, I guess it's his time. People tend to progress in HIS perfect time and perfect place and the right work. He has been to so many work yet no progress. When we get married I let him stop to safeguard our child. As years passed, another kid was added. Now that we found someone to take care of our children because both of us are working.
Anyway, I'll be showing you off to the farm where my husband purchase vegetables to sell to the market.
My husband supplies all the markets in the north except Liloan, Bogo and the rest beyond it. He has to purchase vegetables according to the need of his costumers. However, he has to consider the availability of the products also. It has been two years of adjustment in his field, he has to pick days when to purchase and deliver, choose person to be with along the delivery and all, and of course to some people we called Suki or consistent costumers who will also buy and sell in their respective stores.
Mondays and Thursdays are his purchasing of items in the farm. He has to contact farmers before the day so that he can gather and balance what he has to give to the costumers. In here, we stopped this farm where they picked up bulk of cabbage. On the picture was the aftermath of the left out tomato. It has been cleaned and I think ready for another plantation.
Along the road has the wide range of land for the plantation. Different type of crops. Yet in here is the newly transferred cabbage. They always have water alongside in order their plants could survive the entire weeks of incubation.
As we moved forward, saw am area where I think can't be an ideal for planting but look how they put magic on it. They used up the whole area even it has some boulders hiding your way yet it's not a problem anymore, it's the determination to make money.
Why are they using a plastic mulch in planting? Because some other farm owners think that they can save money from using it. After plowing the area, it will be cover this sheets accordingly and has a small pit just enough the plant can grow. Now, the owner can no longer need maintenance to pull weeds but to focus on the plants. Other farmers don't need it since they are on the farm everyday to look after their plants.
Another part of the plantation was the steep piece of land. Farmers cleaned it already ready to make money. They really used it all up because why not?
I've been to harvesting cabbage before when my husband plant some of those when we're still here. When we have nothing before. We used to dream of planting more but God made it more exciting for us. I remember all of the struggles that turn to testimony how God is good to us.
And finally we reached home, and adjacent to the house is another wide plantation of tomatoes. It's been through already. The owner harvested the most of it already. I think up to fifth times the tomatoes can be harvested. If you come and visit Sudlon 2, you would see how they're similar to Benguet that every corner or wherever you turn to there are vegetable Plantation.
Oh I forgot! They were once called as little Baguio because of the climate they have here. Even during mid noon, it has cold air that's why plants here are healthy.
