There was a heavy downpour yesterday when we were in Church seeing our Headteacher off, now the Rev. Minister of Presby Church. This rain had come at the right time since I was planning how this spraying of herbicide would work if there is a prolong drought. That's obviously one secret about applying herbicide. The weeds must be turgid of succulent for the chemical to be able to draw water from the leaves quickly through osmotic pressure.
In the morning, I had to study the weather to be sure that it's likely to be rain soon. The weather was dim since was early morning. I quickly rushed to the farm. Unfortunately my knapsack sprayer machine got faulty in the hands of a friend. I had to make arrangement as quickly as possible from a friend. This really delayed my work today. Water wasn't a problem since there is a nearby river flowing down the valley. I took two gallons, basin including my knapsack sprayer machine, all filled with water.
I must say this was the easiest maize farm I had ever sprayed with herbicide. This was due to the fact that the weeds haven't over grown. The maize have overcome the weeds.
Despite the fact the weeds were down, I took my time to spray so that every place was covered.
The maize are growing so fact, though I haven't applied fertilizer. I've planned to apply fertilizer as soon as possible.
