Berasetepu Village is a dead village located at the foot of Mount Sinabung. This village is very close to Mount Sinabung. A volcano that is still active today. This village has long been abandoned by its owner because it is in the red zone and exactly 5 kilometers below the foot of the Sinabung volcano which is still very active, so that at any time this mountain could erupt again and release hot and cold lava. And when Mount Sinabung erupted, the first village to be exposed to hot and cold lava bursts at Mount Sinabung was Berasetepu village.
God is never wrong in taking action, but sometimes we humans are the ones who always misunderstand God's decisions. As the saying goes, the storm must pass, after the rain there will definitely be a rainbow. That's what happened in this Berasetepu village. After more than 5 years ago this village was abandoned by its inhabitants. Now they are back to tidying up to start a new step in their land. The land is fertile because it is in a mountainous area, it is increasingly fertile because of the former Sinabung volcanic eruption.
Even though they are aware that Mount Sinabung will erupt again at any time, all decisions must carry risks. If in the past they planted non-perennial crops such as chilies, tomatoes, and onions, now they are planting stronger annual crops such as coffee, chocolate oranges, and dragon fruit which the people in this village are still trying to cultivate, with the hope of a year ahead. This village will become an agro-tourism that can improve their economic condition even more.
Being on the Dragon fruit farm and immediately holding a harvest, the first harvest with the largest amount after they planted this dragon fruit 8 months ago. This Dragon fruit tree can bear fruit continuously for a lifetime on the condition that when we harvest the fruit we must use a tool so that the dragon fruit tree's eyes are not injured. Because this dragon fruit bears fruit in every eye around the dragon fruit tree that resembles this cactus. If the eye of the dragon fruit is damaged, then the branch cannot bear fruit anymore.
Visitors who come to the gardens of dragon fruit farmers here can pick their own dragon fruit on condition that they do not damage the dragon fruit tree. They have to be very careful. . And the fruits that we have harvested will be weighed at the price that was agreed at the beginning when we will pick this dragon fruit. And picking this dragon fruit really tested our adrenaline, because apart from being afraid of damaging the dragon fruit tree, we also had to be careful because of the thorns around the dragon fruit tree.
If you see the lights around the dragon fruit tree then I will answer that the lights are intended for the treatment of dragon fruit so that the dragon fruit can produce large and perfect fruit. This dragon fruit is red in color, tastes very sweet and has no sourness at all. However, if this dragon fruit lacks lighting, it will affect the taste of the dragon fruit.
In the market price of dragon fruit now ranges from Rp. 20,000 to Rp. 25,000. actually the price of dragon fruit offered in this garden is the same as the price in the market or supermarket, but what makes the difference is the sensation of picking this dragon fruit. And from here we got new knowledge about this dragon fruit tree? However, it is not a question of price but the sensation of harvesting this dragon fruit with our own hands. It's so adorable that we want to keep harvesting if we don't remember we have to pay for this fruit and I'm afraid my money won't be enough to buy this fruit if I don't stop harvesting the fruit..hope I can grow it myself at home yach.
And hopefully. The existence of this dragon fruit plantation is a prayer that has come true and the hopes have come true from residents who have been displaced for years due to the eruption of the Sinabung volcano. And hopefully their harvest will continue to be abundant so that their economy will also increase. Amen. My next prayer for them is that there will be no more eruptions of the Sinabung volcano so that they will no longer evacuate to other places and live again from scratch. Hopefully.
