Hello friends, I transplanted the chives five months ago, and the plants still haven't reached the ideal size for harvesting. In fact, they should be harvested three months after transplanting, but their growth has been delayed. This is because it's been raining too much and the weeds have grown too quickly, which has affected their development. Although I've tried to keep them weed-free, I haven't been able to control them.
I TELL YOU, that I currently have 10 raised beds planted, 1 meter wide by 20 meters long, each of these beds contain an average of 1,500 chive seedlings, that is, I have a total of 1,500 plants, the truth is that the rains have accelerated the growth of weeds, notice that as much as I have tried to keep the crop clean, the weeds prevail, because when I am finishing the last beds, the first ones already have weeds and so on, and I have even had to pay a worker to help me with the cleaning and even so the weeds are always present, for this reason yesterday I decided to harvest my chives even though they still have to grow.
5 months ago I started transplanting the chives and since then I have had to fight weeds like never before:
Weeds slow the growth of chive plants. In the following images, I show you the plants 50 days after transplanting. They should actually be taller and have thicker stems, but the weeds have affected them.
Well, friends, the truth is that for the past 5 months I've had to fight weeds to make my chive crop thrive. But the truth is, the weeds are growing so fast that I haven't had a chance to rest, so yesterday I was looking at the size of the chives and decided it was best to harvest them. Although they can still grow and thicken their stems even more, I think that size could be marketable, because I plan to sell them in supermarkets:
Look how the chives look now:

Before taking the chives to the market, you must first remove the dried leaves and roots so they look better and can be packaged:
Well friends, the chive plants are not as small as they looked in the field, yesterday I managed to harvest 175 kilos and fortunately they bought all these chives at a Chinese food restaurant, because chives are an important part of preparing Chinese rice, they already ordered 100 kilos for next week, so everything is going super well with the sale of my chives, so the effort in these 5 months of this harvest was worth it
