Howdy, my dear garden friends? How are you today? I hope you are feeling and doing great. For today's blog, I will be showing you one of my weekend activities here in the countryside. I hope you are with me as I've shared it with you.
Living in the province is relaxing. It relieves stress and worries, giving you the healing that you need. You are simply living the best life that nature has to offer.
Last weekend, my family and I were invited by our neighbor to help them dig up their sweet potato plants. I was very happy about the invitation because, aside from bringing something to our table, it's also one way to exercise our body. I was eager to go with them and packed my things. We prepared our bolos and jackets with us, as well as the sacks and pails for our sweet potato take-home.
We walked for about 5 to 8 minutes to reach the place. I was very much amazed at how wide their sweet potato plants are. Some areas were a little bit slope and there were also sweet potatoes planted on flat surfaces.
Together with my friends, we positioned ourselves in the slope area. For me, it's better to dig up the soil in sloppy areas because some of the soil is soft and sandy. My parents together with our neighbor situated on a flat surface because they had difficulty in sitting down in a sloppy area due to old age.
It was a lovely day. The sun was not too hot, enough for us to tolerate it. Trees and coconuts planted nearby also gave us shadows while we were digging up the roots of the sweet potato plant.
After a couple of minutes of digging from one place to another, we had some returns already. We're glad that our time here was not wasted. A lot of sweet potato was retrieved from digging the soil. We asked one of my friends to get the sacks and pail to put the sweet potato inside.
We were very exhausted, but there were no regrets. We were lucky that we had friendly neighbors who asked us to go with them. Nature around us has a lot of bounty. We just had to be hardworking to find ways to meet our needs. With the harvest we got from going with our neighbors, we received our share for about 10 kilos. Such a good harvest.
When we got home, we cooked the bounty we brought for lunch. Our family shared the cooked sweet potato, and lunch was solved. According to a famous quote, "A family that eats together, stays together." It doesn't matter what food is on your table as long as you have each other and support one another in the challenges and circumstances of life. Eating sweet potatoes is also good for our bodies to become healthier.
