Previously we looked at all my annual plants growing in the garden, meaning they only live once during the grow season and then die back. But in this post we will look at the perennial plants, meaning those that go dormant in the winter and come back year after year without needing to be reseeded.
Above is our Marjoram bed, it has three plants in it. Right now they are producing lots of seeds. But from what I have read they will go dormant in the winter and come back the following year. We shall see, it will be their first year.
When we transplanted them they did not do much for awhile, but seems now they have adjusted and are growing again. I am sure if i topped them they would produce more leaves again, but its okay I got a potted one we used for trimmings. These I just want to spread throughout the bed. So figured letting its seeds drop is the best way for that.
The sage is doing well too. It has not flowered but is doing fine in its beds.
Most of the strawberry plants are doing okay. Waiting to see more runners and then going to bury them with wood chips.
Here we can see the runners forming. I need to go out there and add wood chips.
The bosyenberry plants on the right are doing well. The raspberry plants on the left were just planted, so hoping they start growing soon.
These are the bosyenberry plants.
And then these are the raspberry plants. They look similar.
Along the fence line I have some honeyberries growing. Hard to see them but they are doing alright.
The gojiberry plants are not the most happy, being their fist year. I hope they grow more though, may take a couple years to see them recover from my experience with them.
The elderberry plants with their unplanned cabbage companion are doing well.
The mullberry bushes are doing well too.. Making lots of leaves.
I planted two of them so hopefully they both grow a lot.
Asparagus is growing a lot too. Going to have to wait a few years before I can eat it through. Needs to grow big and strong.
Its hard to see being quite wispy.
The thornless blackberries are doing well too. I moved them during the spring, and some of them are coming back. Eventually I will train them on the fence there.
Hah one of them is producing berries already.. lol
Good to see them growing, cannot wait to have many berries all over this fence.
So that is my update to my fenced in area for my perennial garden. I also have numerous blueberry bushes, cherry and apple trees. But I did not include them in this post. I may do a update post on those as they need their own post with so many details about them.
