Another week had passed and it was time to start a few more seeds. I seeded all the Salvia, Snapdragons, Coleus, Impatiens, Herbs, Lettuce, Spinach, and Sweet Peppers. Oh, and Lemongrass which has already sprouted and the pepper tray is on the heat mat.
I have a large potting table in my garage where I can fill all the seed trays.
Once I have them filled I bring them onto the kitchen island to make seeding easier on my back.
These are all the different sweet peppers that I grow each year. I save my own seed which saves me a lot of money every season.
I put 2 seeds into each cell and will thin them once I see which pepper is the strongest.
I'm loving my new seed-storing system. It really has made life so much easier for me. Before I just had them all thrown into large zip-lock bags. Now, they are neatly organized by type and I have a list of when I need to start each seed according to my last frost date.
Once the trays are seeded I put them onto this rack under LED lights. You can see that I am already out of room. The month of March is when I generally put the trays into the greenhouse. That always depends on how cold the nights get since I have to run heaters to keep it above freezing.
These Solar-powered lights were a gift from my husband for Valentine's Day. The man knows me so well. Last fall I had to throw most of mine away because they stopped lighting. Now I have 10 new ones to put along the front of the house. That will make the garden look so nice at night.
I took a trip to the garden store to stock up on fertilizers for the raised beds. As soon as the snow melts I will add the Blood Meal before I plant so the nutrient gets a chance to break down.
I found this water-soluble fertilizer for the house plants and decided to give it a try. I will also use a light solution for the seedlings once they get established.
The last of the new seeds came from MIgardener and now I have everything I planned on growing this year. Next week I may start some tomato seeds. I like to have good-sized plants to put in the garden which gives me earlier harvest times. That's it for my gardening update, well, seeding update for the week. Happy gardening everyone!
Until next time, this is Sunscape
