I feel bad for my warm-loving plants, the temps have been cool and of course, raining constantly. The peppers and eggplant are not too happy since being planted out. I did get the support netting on this week in between raindrops, lol.
The only plants that are loving this weather are the cabbage and the onions. The white netting keeps the cabbage moths from laying eggs on the plants.
A few peas and cucumbers survived the snails once I sprinkled Diatomaceous Earth on them. Now, I can see tendrils forming on the peas so that they can climb the fencing.
In this frame, I did a square foot pattern with lettuce, kale, lemongrass, ginger, Swiss chard, borage, and chives. In the center I planted yellow bell peppers. This is the first time planting the frame in this fashion. It will be interesting to see how well it does with all the varieties together.
Next to the frame, I planted nasturtium, marigolds, and a Zucchini in the pot.
In the corner of the garden, under one of the Lilac trees, I have 5 grow bags with potatoes planted in them. They are growing rather quickly with all the rainfall.
The small tower gardens are still giving me lots of spinach. The herbs are starting to fill in and I will be replanting empty spaces with lettuce once the spinach is done.
I think this bunch will be used this weekend for dinner.
In the large tower, the strawberry plants I ordered are starting to form berries. I may just get a small harvest this year.
On the top layer of each large tower, I planted 3 Radicchio plants. They are so colorful and forming a nice head, I can't wait to enjoy them as this is my first time growing this vegetable.
Last week I planted the green bush beans, and they are all sprouting in the second tower. Last year I grew yellow bush beans and got a tremendous harvest in the tower garden.
Next to the porch is my hanging garden. The lettuce and nasturtiums are doing wonderfully being on the North side of the house where it stays shady most of the day. As you can see, I need to start eating the rouge lettuce this week also.
That's it for today's update on the vegetable gardens. I'm off to do some errands since it is raining, again!
