Greeting HiveGarden community ^^
I have taken part in Hive platform for over 2 weeks but this is my first time to say greeting in our community after following and reading some posts in a certain time.😁
Two days ago, after talking with @crazy-bee, I broadened my mind with a range of plans for my small garden which I have named “Hồng Hồng garden” randomly by my original name. Afterward, I've finally made the decision about introducing my little garden to our community 😄. I did not think that one day I could become a farmer, the thing that I rejected when I was a child. Owing a small garden is not simple as I thought before. Till the day I swing it into action, I comprehend a lot of things that is beyond my imagination.
Hồng Hồng's garden located in the remote region with an area of 1.4 hectares, inlucding some coffee trees, and over 50 pepper trees with several nurseling fruit trees. With the off-road terrain, I – a freshman cannot take the most of it to cultivate, look for a teammate who can share joys and sorrow with me in this new path :D
Besides, my garden has a exclusive trees that I am honestly a fan of it – tropical vegetation (golden long grass, daisy grass, muhly grass and so on).
Why?
In my country (Viet Nam), most of the farmers do not like grass in their garden. They often think that wild grass is the enermy of the crop plants, it will take all nutrients leading to the lack of plant’s growth. I’m the opposite, instead of pulling up the will grass and weeds or using pesticide to remove it out, I just let it be within a specified period of time, then mow off the grass to the ground. This process circulates till I turn over the soil to grow other trees.
The reason made me let wild grass enjoy with trees!
There are some reasons drag me to keep the wild grass living together with crop plants.
First of all, every creature has the right to live with its vocation, so does grass. Life is an equilibrium circle, and nature including grass is one of the main part of this circle. We cannot look into the darkside then deny all the brightside it has.
Secondly, I pursue to be a farmer with sustainable development, be independent of chemical substances which are the good choices of others to grow the plants. There are a plenty of things that we can take advatange to make fertilizer by decomposing organic compounds and grass is one of those materials to do compost. In the other hand, grass can be used directly after cutting down, I just put it in the ground and let it decompose by itself. Time after time, soil will be enriched more than usual.
Thirdly, wild grass has a function as a material to keep the soil moist in the dry season. I have experimented with 2 kinds of soil, one is covered by grass and one is bald. Thank for that, I do not need to water coffee trees so much times in the hot season as other famers do in my area.
Last but not least, we may have already known there are some insects and organisms living in the ground, especially earthworm. Grass constructs an available environment that makes easier for insects and indeed living things to exist and live, support them to provide more nutrients in soil.
My neighborhood said I am not a green finger because my garden is a mess in his eyes and we have different outlook. I certainly do not attach to their thoughts or be affected from their judgments. Everyone has their own truth and so do I. They may be a professional farmer while I am just a freshman, I respect them a lot and I also hope they can respect me, from what I am doing with my garden.
Changing other’s mind is my taboo, eventually in their speciality. I do my garden not only for finance but also for nourishing my soul, for the love with nature and for the origin of life.
Certainly without chemical substances, pesticide, weedkiller,a lot of healthy products could be made from these freshing materials in my garden.
Every moment I take here is absolutely worthy of my effort. No matter how difficulties I have been through, be happy and pleasure with what I have now.
😙I want to give a deepest thanks to management board of HiveGarden community and all readers for taking time to read my article today. ^^ See you all in the next post.😊
