Child labour in the UK seems only to be in recorded history in the 1800’s. A rare surname within my own family led me into this research and suggests that I likely came from child labourers where either few survived, or few existed in such work. Based on my research, I would suggest the latter. This particular child labourer was a crossing sweeper.
These were often children, disabled or elderly people who struggled to gain work. They would use a broom to clear horse manure from the road so as ladies of wealth, dressed in their attire would avoid having their dresses soiled. Associated with the name and job also are those who made the brooms to sell to the crossing sweepers.
The Charles Dickens novel Bleak House character Jo, was a crossing sweeper. The novel was written to bring light to the hardships of those working in such a job, however it was argued at the time that the book greatly exaggerated the hardships of those working such a role. It is suggested that the wealthy resented paying tips to these labourers seeing them as pesky beggars rather than workers.
Looking at this now, today and seeing the resentment towards the middle-class by the-powers-that-shouldn’t-be I wonder if it was really comes down to a resentment of seeing people making their own way in life, that they are asking to be paid to serve such people resentful yet wealthy people. Perhaps it is likely that these particular types of personality believe people should serve them without payment. I do think so.
Others in that period appreciated their work of the crossing sweepers and had wanted them to continue in their work. Eventually by mid-1800’s the crossing sweepers were banned form working at all and conveniently the timing of such banning co-ordinated with legislation so as to have children be educated in schools.
In hindsight, it could be argued that Charles Dickens was an activist/influencer novelist, with celebrity-influence status of many today. Like those who encouraged the injection uptake with no evidence of its safety.
Another form of child labour within the UK in the 1800’s was work within factories and mines. Here, two forms of legislation were written up, The Factory Act (1833) and the Mines Act (1842) prohibiting the employment of children under the age of nine and limiting the hours they could work.
It seems that child labour was not noted prior to the 1800’s, so it either arrived in the UK at that time of the 1800’s under Queen Victoria, or it already existed but the population had not previously opposed or if it had previously existed with no opposition, it likely became more brutal in the 1800’s.
It might be, that child labour may have simply been children collecting sticks up off the road making brooms to sell to get some money to spend in the shops. A little like those children who do newspaper rounds today. However, perhaps they would sit in the corner of the factory making such brooms. Perhaps they would help de-tangle machines with their little fingers, encouraged by the manger or owner of such a business.
We know from the 1837 story ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’, perhaps a message to get children out of the way but also real life observations, that children are the most likely to question and point out the blatantly obvious wrongs. Perhaps those pesky little children were seeing things they objected to. These elitist attitude factory owners coming on to their mother perhaps, only to have a consultation with the husbands fist after the child dropped the truth bomb.
Hey, it is possible. Or perhaps children wandering around and finding something incriminating and talking. One thing I do now understand. The laws here are written in broad and vague terms. Perhaps such, helps mislead us in our search into his-story. Along with the dictated historical writers we have to read in schools today.
With education as it is today and celebrity influencing also as it is, it has to be considered that similarly influencers were used back in the 1800’s so as to nudge society into an intended direction more favourable for the powers-that-be.
Today we see lots of transgender, gay rights pushing within schools along with climate change push. Here you will find child celebrity influencers such as Desmond is Amazing the LGBTQ drag kid and Greta Thunberg the climate change activist who incredibly leads the elite, so it would seem.
Soon after child labour was outlawed or made difficult for families to have their children in the workforce with them in the UK, there would be the Education Act (1870).
With the help of influencers such as Charles Dickens and Elizabeth Barrett Browning, children in the UK would be invited into a new system which would educate them in numerous subjects which would inevitably influence their life, future and understanding of the world around them.
Schools were an institution intended to keep children safe from the horrors of accidents and injuries in these working environments. It can be agreed that children in the education system were taken away from working and industrial environments which might have been unsafe for them. However, systemic child sexual abuse would start within the education system and still continues today. This is hardly safe.
They were also intended on providing children with knowledge so as they could move into various professions in their future. Knowledge and understandings have grown so much and so dramatically over the past decade that any element of tradition or values has been erased. It simply does not fit in with the science or the acceptable explanation, aka the experts analysis. At this stage and clearly in the 1800’s, the masses were scared to think off the beaten track.
Charles Dickens also wrote the infamous book, A Christmas Carol in 1843 which focused on the tight fisted Ebenezer Scrooge who refused to celebrate Christmas. Coincidentally it would be in the 1800’s when families changed their celebrations of Christmas in favour of having Christmas trees and a roast dinner with the exchanging of gifts and the reef on the door. Ebenezer Scrooge who would cry “Bah! Humbug!” Bah is used to show dislike and Humbug, means something that is not honest or true.
Armenians are the only Christians now to celebrate Christmas on the 6th January. It was Prince Albert who first celebrated Christmas with a tree, in the late 1840’s. The celebration of Christmas on the 25th December was established by using the old Roman Ceasar calender. The Armenians largely refused to change their day of celebration.
The Armenian genocide took place between 1890 and 1909. Whether hiding history had any involvement in this sad event will never be known. But despite it, they held on to their beliefs and traditions regardless. Some changed their Christmas celebration to 25th December, some for only a short period of time. Many didn’t at all. Outright refused. Refuseniks.
Lots of new revelations would be discovered in the 1800’s also, like the skeleton of the dinosaur which was recreated in the newly opened Natural History Museum in London, England opened by Queen Victoria’s husband Albert. These dinosaurs were described as having existed millions of years ago, therefore this did not correspond with the Bible teachings that the children and their parents had previously understood.
The Cambridge dictionary defines dragon as a large, frightening, imaginary, animal. Interestingly, dragons exist today. There is the Bearded Dragon of Australia, growing to 2 feet as an adult male. The Chinese Water Dragon, growing to 2 feet as an adult male. Eastern Water Dragon, growing to 3 feet as an adult male, the Komodo Dragon can grow to 10 feet.
They are not the dragons 'often represented as fire-breathing', but they are called dragons. Perhaps that representation of the dragon was false? Fiction? I guess it must have been. So clearly, the Cambridge dictionary has made a mistake.
The word "dragon" comes from the Greek drakon, which means "serpent" or "water-snake". However, historically, most dragons used on flags, had legs and were not serpents as snake type creatures. Consider my own national flag of Wales, with the red dragon on the white and green background. The flag of Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales no less. Now King Charles III.
The first known use of the word dinosaur was in 1841, of course. Dinosauris the name originally given had compounded two Greek words: deinos, which means “horrible” or “fearful,” and the previously used sauros. The result: A terrifying lizard. A lizard being associated with the serpent, the snake, or cold blooded reptiles. Which are air-breathing vertebrates like amphibians. Incidentally, The name amphibian, derived from the Greek amphibios meaning “living a double life”.
Later, the new lessons of science would see much of the Bible being disputed and therefore understandings between children and parents differing over time and eventually generations. Eventually, before evidence was provided, schools were teaching children that the earth was not flat, but it was in fact a globe. Humans did not go to the moon it is suggested through old video until the 1950’s. This has been disputed as a hoax by some however. The last claimed moon landing was in 1972. It is not clear why no more have taken place since.
In Britain it was only those who were owners of real property who paid taxes to the Crown of at least 40 shillings per year who were eligible to vote. This would include both men and women although this is often overlooked by feminists and remained the status quo for 400 years. I lightly touched upon the English Civil War in the 1400’s under both King Charles I & II history here and will research further.
The Reform Act 1832 expanded voting rights to men aged 21 or above and they would only be land owners and farmers. The Reform Act 1832 expanded voting rights to men aged 21 or above and they would only be land owners and farmers. In 1867 a further Reform Act permitted working Class males to vote. The Bill of Rights 1869 provided for regular parliamentary elections. Again, this is something feminists will overlook. Working males also had no right to vote for centuries.
Regardless of people’s views of Christianity and religion as a whole, it is clear that the 1800’s Britain, and possibly all Western countries that took a similar route in science would see the beginnings of vast changes in traditions, religion, Bible understandings where science would deny the Bible consistently and help remove the family life.
Whether these changes such as children in workplaces and going to schools were for the better may appear so when basing that understanding on fiction novels by Charles Dickens. But they were fictitious writings. To look around you today, are we any better for having been put through the education system? Have these institutions turned out to be safe havens for us? Or even our medical institutions?
We are told by 19th century celebrities that life was hostile for these children who were under the care of their parents rather than the state. It may be that future generations will be told of the work that Greta and Desmond is Amazing had done so as to help advance society. And when I look at past century celebrities having now taken off my rose tinted glasses of the world, I question the honesty and the intended narrative of the 1800’s as part of an agenda to get us here where we are today.
Depopulation. Yet again.
Love and peace to you all.
