Hey community members and friends
Here you see the whole of my doodle practice for this little guy. I think I made a cute character from my previous doodle which I still don’t know what it is. I was thinking then that it could be a cheerful turtle.
The sketchbook above shows the many times I made this cutie. Depending on its angle and pose sometimes he looks like a frog or a gecko hmmm a turtle or could be anything else. I am just happy to see it emerge on my sketchbook and trying some looks and positioning is a fun experience . I don’t want to get it twisted what matters to me is I want this character to be filled with > joy and must be squishy like a plushie. I don’t want to veer away from that idea
It looks like I will be drawing him a lot of times so I must set some parameters to get a consistent look each time and this is my first attempt
First I need to decide what it is but wouldn’t want to tie him to a particular character. I want him to be a squishy shaped thing without looking like a particular animal. Here I made sure I got his eyes snout mouth and head right each time I doodle him. I set the distance and space and shape for each kind of setting a standard so when I draw him again it won’t look like another character. I made an effort to change the lower limbs and part of his body from a bit longer to now stubbier. Notice I tried different collars but I think I will settle for this. It is not a collar of a shirt I want the collar to look like leaves and they are a part of its body. I will keep the red heart that he is holding I don’t have a purpose for it but I think it should stay
I am not fond of using my colored pens but I tried. It is hard for me to control the colors unlike other media so here it is not proud of it
The color I chose for the body is pink. My pen shows a super light pink but when applied it didn’t tone done instead it stayed this vibrant which is frustrating. A cream or white or super ligh pink or blue that would work for me then the green collars and red pink would be accents. That’s it for now before I make a mess 🤣 so far I am loving the final version but I hope to tweak and improve it a little bit more
