I'm @pretemi and I'm so excited today as I will be sharing my experience and lessons learnt at Finnovation 3.0.
Theme: Sustainable Finance; Investment Opportunity in Emerging Markets.

This is a very big and educative event that every student in the Management Science Faculty in Unilorin and other students from other facilities always look forward to every year. It usually hold at the school auditorium so that it can accommodate the large amount of students that will be attending. The speakers are always great men and women from different aspects of finance like taxation, fintech, investment researchers, banking industry, federal ministers and so on.

Finnovation is a finance event organised by The Investment Society in the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. It is a premier finance event connecting students and industry professionals across It's not just an event but also a platform for networking with top finance professionals and peers, it is a platform to equip future finance leaders (students) with knowledge, skills and connections. The impart of this event over the years has always been massive and I can really say I'm have learnt a lot this year again which I will be sharing with everyone.

EXPERIENCES IN FINNOVATION 3.0
Finnovation 2025 started with the publicity walk that took place in the school premises on the 29th of April, 2025. It was an exciting but draining experience where we had to walk from on e faculty to the other with big banners and placards, inviting everyone with joy in our hearts to the great event. I said it was draining because we had to walk, dance scream and keep walking till we all got tired. I want to make use of this opportunity to celebrate the organisers of this great event,they really did a very great job putting this event all together. I celebrate their hardwork, excellence and resilience even the sponsors of this event did an amazing job providing for all we need, they provided more than enough and I'm so grateful for their generous hearts.

The D-day of Finnovation 3.0 was a great day for everyone, the school auditorium was made so conducive for everyone to stay and learn. The Speakers also did a great job, I really love the speech of Mr Micheal Olufemi Olarinde (Head of Fiscal and Tax Reforms Division at Federal Inland Revenue Service) he really did a great job speaking with simplicity and clarity, the panelists all did an amazing job as well.

LESSONS LEARNT AT FINNOVATION 3.0
The Theme: Sustainable Finance; Investment Opportunity in Emerging Markets. This topic has been like a question in my heart for a while now on "How exactly can finance be sustained?". I got my answers at the event and I will like to share it with everyone.

Finance is the management of money, resources and other assets. It involves raising funds, investigating money, risk planning, budgeting and planning of resources.

Sustaining finance especially money has been an issue individually and in the corporate world especially here in the Nigeria where we experience hyper-inflation and the value of naira is going down the drain every passing day. To sustain individual and corporate finance, everyone must engage in consistent planning of how make use of the finance, smart and efficient decision-making, and risk management.

Here are the key points I jot down on how to sustain finance:

1. Strong financial planning: Every individual especially entrepreneurs, business owners and company managers must always plan their finances so that they won't over spend and project their future profits and expenses. No one is expected to live and spend as the day comes by.

2. Saving and budgeting: Everyone is expected to budget as simple as their daily and weekly expenses and income and also inculcate the habit of saving.This also involve your cash flow management, "No amount is too small to save"

3. Diversify income and investments: Everyone should source for many sources of income and also do investment appraisal. Look into the market and buy company shares or government securities or invest in real estate. There are so many investment opportunities around us, get information from the right sources and invest well.

4. Avoid or reduce borrowing: Don't always resolve to borrowing every time you need cash because anyone that borrows is a slave to the creditor

5. Innovation and reinvestment of profits: The world is revolving every day, that's why everyone is expected to keep birthing new ideas to sustain relevance and sustainability.

Soy @pretemi y hoy estoy muy emocionada ya que compartiré mi experiencia y aprendizajes en Finnovation 3.0.
Tema: Finanzas Sostenibles; Oportunidad de inversión en mercados emergentes.

Este es un evento muy grande y educativo que todos los estudiantes de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Gestión en Unilorin y otros estudiantes de otras instalaciones siempre esperamos con interés cada año. Suele celebrarse en el auditorio de la facultad para que pueda acoger a la gran cantidad de estudiantes que asistirán. Los oradores son siempre grandes hombres y mujeres de diferentes aspectos de las finanzas como la fiscalidad, fintech, los investigadores de inversión, la industria bancaria, los ministros federales y así sucesivamente.

Finnovation es un evento financiero organizado por la Sociedad de Inversiones de la Universidad de Ilorin, Nigeria. No se trata sólo de un evento, sino también de una plataforma para establecer contactos con los mejores profesionales de las finanzas y con otros colegas. Es una plataforma para dotar a los futuros líderes de las finanzas (estudiantes) de conocimientos, habilidades y contactos. La aportación de este evento a lo largo de los años siempre ha sido enorme y puedo decir que este año he vuelto a aprender muchas cosas que compartiré con todo el mundo.

EXPERIENCIAS EN FINNOVATION 3.0
Finnovation 2025 comenzó con la marcha publicitaria que tuvo lugar en las instalaciones de la escuela el 29 de abril de 2025. Fue una experiencia emocionante pero agotadora en la que tuvimos que caminar de una facultad a otra con grandes pancartas y carteles, invitando a todo el mundo con alegría en nuestros corazones al gran evento. He dicho que fue agotador porque tuvimos que caminar, bailar, gritar y seguir caminando hasta que todos nos cansamos. Quiero aprovechar esta oportunidad para felicitar a los organizadores de este gran acontecimiento, que han hecho un gran trabajo. Celebro su trabajo duro, su excelencia y su capacidad de recuperación. Incluso los patrocinadores de este evento hicieron un trabajo increíble para cubrir todas nuestras necesidades, nos dieron más que suficiente y estoy muy agradecida por sus corazones generosos.

El día D de Finnovation 3.0 fue un gran día para todos, el auditorio de la escuela se hizo tan propicio para que todos se quedaran y aprendieran. Los ponentes también hicieron un gran trabajo: me encantó el discurso de Micheal Olufemi Olarinde (Jefe de la División de Reformas Fiscales e Impositivas del Servicio Federal de Impuestos Internos), que habló con sencillez y claridad, y también el de todos los panelistas.

LECCIONES APRENDIDAS EN FINNOVATION 3.0
Tema: Finanzas sostenibles; oportunidad de inversión en mercados emergentes. Este tema ha sido como una pregunta en mi corazón desde hace tiempo: "¿Cómo pueden sostenerse exactamente las finanzas?". Obtuve mis respuestas en el evento y me gustaría compartirlas con todos.

Las finanzas son la gestión del dinero, los recursos y otros activos. Implica recaudar fondos, investigar el dinero, planificar los riesgos, elaborar presupuestos y planificar los recursos.

Mantener las finanzas, especialmente el dinero, ha sido un problema individual y en el mundo empresarial, especialmente aquí en Nigeria, donde experimentamos una hiperinflación y el valor del naira se va a pique cada día que pasa. Para mantener las finanzas individuales y corporativas, todo el mundo debe planificar de forma coherente cómo utilizar las finanzas, tomar decisiones inteligentes y eficientes y gestionar los riesgos.

He aquí los puntos clave que apunto sobre cómo mantener las finanzas:

1. 1. Planificación financiera sólida: Todas las personas, especialmente los empresarios, propietarios de negocios y gerentes de empresas, deben planificar siempre sus finanzas para no gastar de más y proyectar sus beneficios y gastos futuros. No se espera que nadie viva y gaste según le va el día.

2. Ahorro y presupuesto: Se espera que todo el mundo haga un presupuesto tan simple como sus gastos e ingresos diarios y semanales y también inculcar el hábito del ahorro.Esto también implica la gestión de su flujo de caja, "Ninguna cantidad es demasiado pequeña para ahorrar"

3. 1. Diversificar los ingresos y las inversiones: Todo el mundo debería buscar muchas fuentes de ingresos y también hacer una valoración de las inversiones. Busque en el mercado y compre acciones de empresas o títulos del Estado o invierta en bienes inmuebles. Hay muchas oportunidades de inversión a nuestro alrededor, infórmate en las fuentes adecuadas e invierte bien.

4. Evita o reduce los préstamos: No te decidas a pedir prestado cada vez que necesites efectivo porque quien pide prestado es esclavo del acreedor

5. Innovación y reinversión de beneficios: El mundo gira cada día, por eso se espera de todos que sigan pariendo nuevas ideas para mantener la relevancia y la sostenibilidad.
