Participation is waaaay down after most of our members fled the country or got trapped outside of it once the international travel doors slammed shut.
Most of our members are not Thai so this is easy to understand. We are still trying out best to have 3 runs a week but i am afraid that in the not so distant future we will likely be forced to reduce the amount of runs to 2 or maybe even just 1 a week.

We don't want to do this but something that people need to understand is that it can take an entire day or even multiple days to set a trail as a hare and when we only have 6 people turning up to take part in it once it is done it doesn't really seem worth it. We still have a good time but it might make more sense for us to have 1 event per week that everyone attends rather than have 3 events a week than 6-10 people attend. This is by no means official at this point, but it will be brought up at the next meeting and I suspect it will likely pass.
We did still have some wonderful views last week though, check this out!

During this time of year there is pretty decent chance that we are going to get monsoon rains but we got very lucky to end up having such a lovely day. You can tell by the puddle / mud pit in the foreground that the lack of rain is not something we were expecting.

Of course it was extremely hot and humid but no matter what time of year it is, this is still Thailand and we expect that to be the case. There are actually times that we get so hot that we kind of hope that it would rain a bit but then again, we have been in situations where the skies opened up half way through a run and at first we enjoyed it but after 20 minutes the allure had already worn off.

All in all it was a great day and the only thing that was missing was there actually being some people there to enjoy the whole thing with us. It is getting to be a bit depressing actually but I suppose that is the price we pay for Covid I guess. I know a lot of our members are ready to return to Thailand but are hesitant to do so when there is such a high level of uncertainty as far as the future is concerned here.
Thailand might be returning to letting anyone who is vaccinated straight in starting in October, or at least that is what they are talking about doing. I think that most of our members who are living abroad or traveling and got locked out of Thailand will probably wait a month or so to see how the government handles the influx of people.
For the most part we still have a lot of annoying rules and even our get togethers with the Hash are of dubious legality.
If you do happen to live in the Chaing Mai area and want to come along we are always willing and happy to welcome new members. Look us up on our official website HERE
