Lately I have found myself in a bit of a "food slump" and after a month or so of having too much in the way of burgers and pizza and also being dead tired of the usual Vietnamese offerings, I decided to branch out a bit and try some Greek food.
This is something that I am not terribly familiar with but since I already know that I like Feta cheese, I suppose there are a lot of other things that they have that I would like.
After asking around about the 3 Greek restaurants we have in our immediate proximity I settled on a more established place called "Irini." However, since it insanely hot and humid outside I was going to have it delivered to my house. This is where we enter the advertisement vs. actual product portion of this order.

This is called a Pork Souvlaki and to me it may as well be called a Shawarma, a wrap, a kebab, or a wrap. I do not know the subtle differences between them all. The above is the advertised picture and below is what I received.

obviously the advertisement looks better but that has a lot to do with the fact that most of the veggies had made their way into the interior and I guess I would prefer that over them getting thrown around the interior of the bag. The meat was incredible and overall the taste is really good. I will give the picture vs actual product a 9/10 for this one.
Next up we have something that I have never heard of but sounded like it would be reasonably healthy, well compared to a burger and fries or a pizza anyway.

This is a Tirokafteri and if you don't know what that is you can stand right next to me. Basically it is a yogurt and feta dip and the one I ordered is meant to be the big one, similar to the one in the picture.

This is the actual product and at first I was quite disappointed in the portion since it cost nearly as much as the Souvlaki, which as you will see is considerably larger

This isn't a fair comparison though because feta is expensive over here in Vietnam or perhaps all of the world. The dip was very very rich and by the time I was finished spooning it up on the half a pita bread that was included I was kind of sick of it. So even though the advertisement is a little bit misleading, I will say that I was satisfied with this and was kind of full afterwards and put my Souvlaki back in the foil to save for later. I give their advert vs actual product a 6/10 but after you get over your initial disappointment about being a bit duped, you taste it and realize that if there was more of it, it would be too much because of the strong flavors.
So this lunch/snack combo ended up costing me 220k VND including the delivery charge and this is about $8 US. I don't think this is an unfair price to pay for such things unless you start looking at the fact that for $2 I can go next door and get a couple of different types of Vietnamese noodles or Bo Ne (steak with eggs and bread) that are meals in themselves.
Will I order this again? Well, we'll have to wait and see how hungry I am once it gets to be late afternoon. So far I am satisfied.
If you want Greek food in Da Nang it is easy enough to find. I feel like it is niche enough that not everyone is making it and that is part of what makes it so special.
