If you read my sometimes crackpot musings on here than you are already aware that something I commonly circle back to on a regular basis is the crazy dreams that I have sometimes. Before we get into this particular episode of what goes on in my head when I close my eyes at night I want to point something out.
I used to dream almost every single night. I could count on it happening and it was something I looked forward to. Lately though I haven't been dreaming very often or if I am, I don't remember it. I can only attribute this to the fact that I stopped drinking alcohol for the most part recently. I only drink on our bowling days and one of those days was yesterday. I was pretty drunk when I went to bed and then I had some very lucid dreams. So I guess there you have it! I've been dreaming so much because of the fact that booze was a major part of my life until about 2 months ago and that is right around the time when the dreaming stopped.
Anyway, lets get on to our feature presentation.

I'm in no way related to Marshal Mathers anymore than you are although I do remember reading that thanks to Genghis Khan that almost everyone on earth is only 7 or so steps away from being related to everyone on earth. No idea how that works out but anyway, if you care to know who really is related to Eminem, there's a kind of hokey article about that here
In my dream I was having a meeting with Eminem because I really was his cousin in the dream. I think that the reason why I became Em's cousin in the dream is because of the line in one of songs called "Marshal Mathers" that is about family
Family fightin' and fussin' over who wants to invite me to supper
All of a sudden, I got ninety-some cousins
That song was on our custom playlist at the bowling alley yesterday and it's kind of funny to me that this one line of a song that I haven't heard in like probably 3 years would creep into my mind so much that I would invent an entire fictional scenario in my head where I am related to Eminem.
in the dream I tried really hard to not be like the cousins that he references in the song and played it cool. He was kind of on the defensive in the dream, because he kept probing me about what it is that I want from him to which I responded something like "I don't need anything from you, I'm not after your money and I don't really care for celebrities either, I'm just surprised to find out that I had a cousin I never knew about and wanted to get to know you."
That was actually a pretty genuine sentiment on my part. If I found out that I was legit related to a celebrity, I wouldn't get all gaga about it but would still be interested in at least knowing them a bit. This sort of happened to me in a way not that long ago in fact. You see, my extended family is a strange one in that my mother was the oldest in her family and she had children much earlier than any of her 5 brothers. My Uncles and Aunties have a ton of kids, but my family moved away from where all of them lived when most of them were just babies and we didn't go back to visit very often, but one year when my grandfather was in pretty bad health the entire family went back to visit him one last time and "all of a sudden I had ninety some cousins" as well. I barely knew these people and really spent some time to try to get to know them.
In my dream I was attempting the same with my cousin Eminem.

In the dream I was able to get him to let his guard down and when I talked to him I didn't ask him anything about rap, about the glitz and glamour of being the most famous rapper of all time, or about anything related to his fame. Instead I talked to him about things I am interested in like the beach, dogs, video games, wierd Al Yankovic and other such things. He appreciated that and next thing I knew we were laughing and having a good time.
I woke up a bit later on and I have no idea how long I was really dreaming about that but in my head the dream took all day long.
But here is something to take away from all of this I guess. I have, in real life, met several celebrities and with several of them I actually got kudos from them for not acting like a fanboi nutjob.
This was the the part of the story about how I met Bradley Cooper but it ended up being over 1000 words long so I cntrl-X'd it out of here and will do an entire separate article about that later.
In the dream I didn't realize it was a dream, my brain had tricked me into believing that I really was cousins with Eminem and was really just chilling in a room with him.
We never did get to say goodbye because my dream ended abruptly when Nadi started barking in her sleep and woke me up in real life.
What an odd dream to have huh? It's not like I sit around obsessing about Eminem all the time - I'm a fan of his music to a normal degree. I haven't intentionally listened to his music since CD's were a thing that people actually paid money for. These days I don't even know anyone that owns a CD player so yeah, it's been a while since I sat down and thought about Eminem.
