Hello! I want to share a special story from last year. It's a happy memory with my daughter. One day, we decided to plant long beans behind our house. It was a beautiful, sunny day. We dug in the soil and planted the beans together. We laughed and enjoyed our time. It felt good to be outside and working with the earth. This day was not just about planting beans. It was about spending time with my daughter and making a lovely memory.
My day began at the back of our house, a place full of life and surprises. I caught a lovely scene, our two playful cats balancing on the fence. They seemed to be enjoying their little game. Noticing me with the camera, they jumped down and started a fun chase, each trying to catch the other's tail.
This photo holds a special memory. It's of Eiona and my wife in our garden. My wife was patiently teaching Eiona how to plant long bean seeds. Eiona's eyes were full of curiosity and joy as she learned. Her attention to her mother's words was heartwarming.
Here, my hand is holding two long bean seeds, glistening in the sunlight. I was excited to give these seeds to Eiona, letting her experience the joy of planting them by herself. It's a small but significant step in learning about nature.
Eiona carefully took the seeds from my hand and with great focus, she planted them into the soft earth. Her small fingers working diligently was a sight to behold.
Meanwhile, I had a different task in another part of our yard. The grass had grown tall due to the recent rains, and it was time to trim it. Standing taller than me, the bush awaited its trim with my long parang.
I managed to clear one area in just 12 minutes. It wasn't a long task, but there was more to do. I moved on to weeding the wild grass, preparing myself for a bit of a challenge.
Weeding took me more than an hour, from 9:55 to 11:16. Although I work slowly, I'm persistent and can handle long tasks. Four more lines of uncleared grass stood to my right, near the white chili plants, waiting to be cleared.
The bush had really taken over, growing larger and taller. I started tackling this new challenge at 11:35 am, determined to clear this area.
In this area, I discovered a bustling ant colony. As I worked, numerous ants crawled over my hand. They bit occasionally, but I simply swiped them away, focusing on the task.
By 1:25 pm, I finished with this section. I love white chili and had planted some here. In the picture, you can see Lila smelling something under the shade of a papaya tree, I wonder what it was.
I am far from done, but then hunger struck. Lunchtime was approaching, and the aroma of food being cooked was in the air. Beside me lay my short parang, or 'gagamas' as we call it in Dusun language, a trusty tool for clearing bushes.
Every time I took a break, our dogs, Kokot and Lila, would come over. Their presence was a gentle reminder to rest and stay awat from the hot sun.
At 1:30 pm, I paused for lunch. My wife called me, and just as I sat down to eat, rain began to fall. It seemed like nature was telling me to rest. Although I wasn’t completely done, it was time for a break.
After lunch, I moved indoors, helping to clean the house. It was a day filled with simple yet fulfilling tasks, and I felt a deep sense of satisfaction. Sharing this story with you brings me joy. Thank you for reading, and I appreciate your support. See you in the next post!❤️
