Hello Hive! My New Journey Begins!

Most people around me know me as Erica Jane, but I changed it! I changed it when I found myself returning to my first love—teaching. Yes, my original name is Erica Jane, and today, I want to share my story with you.

I accidentally changed my name. It was something spontaneous, yet it now holds deep meaning for me. The idea came to me when I realized that I have over 20 inaanaks (godchildren) already.

So, it’s "Ninang," that is my new name. It is the Tagalog word for godmother.

The realization struck me at the same time I got hired by my first ESL company which was almost two years ago, where did the time go? From that day forward, I embraced my new name—Teacher Ninang. But it’s not just a name. It represents my love and true care for children, even those who are not my own. For me it is a godmother’s real duty is to guide, support, and nurture the children just like a second parent to them. Their mothers entrusted me with that responsibility, and I take pride in it.

Aren’t they cute and lovely? Being part of their lives is an incredible blessing. Molding their future is not just my responsibility as a teacher but also as their godmother. So that is my solely identity that I am proud of I became a teacher Ninang because this life called me to do so.

I come from a humble background—not wealthy, but rich in dreams and passion for teaching. I graduated from a tuition-free university with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and later earned a teaching unit from an American-accredited school.

To be honest, despite our financial struggles, pursuing my education was one of the easiest things I achieved because I loved learning. For me, school was not a burden but an adventure. My background in Psychology has helped me immensely—not just in teaching but also in understanding people and life itself.

It has taught me to analyze situations, empathize with others, and approach challenges with a balanced perspective. Psychology gave me confidence as I transitioned from being a student to handling the responsibilities of adulthood. Speaking of life transitions, here’s a glimpse of my younger self. Looking back, I feel proud and grateful. My parents did an amazing job raising me! (Haha, that’s a joke from me!)

To my younger self, I just want to say: I want to make you proud. I still do.

Today, I am still an ESL teacher, and now, I also dedicate my time to writing blogs and engaging with our Hive community. Walking and enjying my time as a teacher which for me one of the best profession in theSpecial thanks to Miss Antonette, who encouraged me to start blogging here. It has been a while since I last expressed myself through writing, which has always been one of my hobbies. Now, I am thrilled to have a new home in Hive, where I can share my thoughts, experiences, passions, and dreams. I am incredibly happy to be here. This platform feels like a second home, a place where I can connect with like-minded individuals who share positivity, creativity, and inspiration.

So, to all my fellow Hivers—let’s grow together! Let’s not just engage through words but build a real sense of community.
