Hello everyone! I hope you’re having a fantastic day! My name is Prahile Eliza, but my students often call me Teacher Beth. I’m from one of the most beautiful provinces in the Philippines, "Bukidnon".
I’m excited to join this wonderful community as a newcomer, and I look forward to connecting with all of you! I created this blog to share my experiences, challenges, and successes in the hope of inspiring others along the way. I invite you to join me on this journey, as I have many life stories to share soon. For now, I would like to discuss my college journey, the challenges I faced, and how I pursued my career.
I come from a humble background as one of five siblings—three brothers and one sister. My three older brothers are currently unemployed, and both of my parents work as farmers. As the eldest sister, I was determined to pursue higher education and earn a degree. Despite the financial struggles my family faced, I was resolute in chasing my dreams.
My college journey began with the goal of a better future, and I worked hard to earn a bachelor’s degree. I sought financial support from my parents and took an entrance exam at Bukidnon State University. By God's grace, I passed! I was incredibly grateful to my parents for their love and support. However, I was disappointed to learn that I couldn’t enroll in my dream course—Elementary Education—because my grades did not meet the qualifications.
As a result, I had no choice but to enroll in another course, Business Administration. During my second year, I faced significant difficulties, particularly in major subjects like Accounting and Financial Management. I felt discouraged after failing one subject and struggled to recover.
They offered a summer class for those who had failed, but it required payment that my family couldn’t afford. Ultimately, I decided to pause my studies, which upset my parents. They wanted me to work instead, so I moved in with my aunt to help with her flower shop business. I felt obligated to follow their wishes, given my academic struggles. This brought me to Cebu City to embark on a new chapter in my life.
I promised myself that after two years of hard work, I would save enough money to return to my studies and continue fighting for my dreams. I could not imagine not graduating from college. While I worked as a saleslady, I felt powerless to provide for my family's needs, even though I deeply wanted to help.
In my pursuit of my dreams, I explored various ways to return to school. Truly, God is amazing! He helped me find a path forward. To summarize, all my dreams came true. I returned to Bukidnon, and miraculously, someone offered to help me continue my education. With the support of Almighty God, I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, majoring in Financial Management.
This degree is the best gift I could give my parents, especially since my three older brothers do not have professions. I could see tears of joy in their eyes and pure happiness in their hearts. My parents are incredibly proud of me, and I am equally proud of them for raising me to be a good person.
After graduation, I applied for jobs and was fortunate to be hired by CARD INC., a microfinance organization, as an Accounting Officer. I manage finances and oversee credit and collections for our clients. Through my hard work, I have been able to support my family financially, especially my parents. Although my salary isn’t large, it covers my needs and helps meet my family’s financial requirements.
So, that’s the end of my college journey. So, as of now, I am currently working as an ESL teacher, and I already have two kids, one girl and one boy. So, thank you so much for taking the time to read my story. This is my introductory blog, and I hope you find it enjoyable. I am happy to be on this platform where I can express my thoughts and share my experiences about how I pursued my career and fought for my dreams. I'm excited to see where this journey takes me. Always remember that no matter what your situation or how you suffered financially, if you want to chase your dreams with all your heart, I told you, you can achieve it. I am looking forward to sharing more stories with you in the future.
Anyway, in the above picture, who with me is my only sister, and we love to sing most of the time. Thank you once again, and I would also like to extend my gratitude to Ma'am Antonette for onboarding me here in the hive community. I was truly blessed by this wonderful opportunity and, of course, her guidance throughout the process.
In my next blog, I will recount my adventures from when I was younger and showcase some of the most visited tourist spots in my area.
