Hello, guys!
It’s been really sunny these past few days, and I honestly love it. After all the gloomy weather we had recently, seeing the sun shining brightly again feels so refreshing. It’s like even the weather is telling us to take a break and enjoy life a little. And that’s exactly what I did this weekend.
As a teacher, my weekdays are always packed with so much things to do. From preparing lesson plans to checking outputs and organizing learning materials for my students, it can get really tiring. So when the weekend came, I grabbed the chance to relax a bit. I went out with my friend for a simple day of shopping, food, and catching up, and it turned out to be such a nice little break.
Ukay-Ukay Shopping
Our first stop was at a thrift store, or what we commonly call ukay-ukay here in the Philippines. I honestly enjoy ukay shopping. It’s fun to browse through the racks and see what hidden gems you can find. This time, I saw some pretty blouses that would be perfect for work, cute floral dresses, and comfy skirts, all still in good condition. Some even looked brand new even though these are actually secondhands.
What I like the most is that the clothes are very affordable.
You don’t need to spend a lot to find something nice.
I also checked out their bags.
Some were really stylish, but of course, I always make sure to check carefully for any damage like scratches or holes. It’s always best to be smart when buying, especially secondhand items.
A Quick Beauty Stop
After that, we headed to the mall. My friend wanted to buy makeup brush and other stuff and and nail extensions. She really enjoys those things to make herself pretty, though she already is.
As for me, I’m not super into makeup, but I do have a few basics that I use for school. I just want to look neat and presentable in front of my students, so I stick to a simple look with light powder, some lip tint, and maybe a bit of brow pencil. Just enough to freshen up my face.
Grocery Time for Mom’s Fruit Salad
Our next stop was the grocery store. My mom asked me to buy some ingredients for her fruit salad, so we went straight to the aisle with canned milk and fruit cocktail.
She’s planning to make her special salad soon, and I’m already looking forward to it. It’s one of those desserts that never gets old.
While we were there, I also introduced my friend to Cream-O cookies. I discovered it when one of my co-teachers bought it for her younger brother.
I got curious, tried one, and surprisingly, it tasted really good. Soft and chocolatey, such a simple but satisfying treat. My friend liked it too, so we both bought a pack.
Ending the Day with Food and Laughter
By the end of our shopping trip, we were so hungry. We stopped by a fast food restaurant for lunch. We didn’t even take photos of our food because we were too busy eating right away, we were that hungry, yes! But the meal was really satisfying and gave us the energy we needed after a long day.
On our way home, we passed by a small food stall selling clubhouse sandwiches. It looked delicious, so we got one each. It turned out to be a great choice as the sandwich had lots of fresh veggies, ham, and cheese, and egg, and it was very filling. It felt like a healthier option too, which was nice after eating fast food.
All in all, it was such a simple day, but it meant a lot to me. Sometimes, we don’t need anything grand, just good company, a few small treats, and time to slow down. This short break really helped me feel a bit more relaxed before heading back to my busy teacher life.
I hope you also got the chance to rest and enjoy your weekend in your own way. Thanks for reading, and I’ll share more stories again soon!
Take care and see you next time! 🫶
