Hi there! 👋
If you’ve somehow stumbled into this little corner of the internet, welcome! Grab a snack, settle in — I’m Mary Rose, and this is where I finally let my thoughts out after years of keeping them locked in lesson plans and grading sheets.
A Bit About Me 🧕✨
I was born on November 16, in the ever-busy heart of Tondo, Manila — yep, the place where everyone seems to walk fast and speak even faster. But I didn’t stay long in the city buzz; I was raised in Surigao City, where the waves are calmer, the people are warmer, and life moves at a more lovable (sometimes hilariously slow) pace.
I’m the middle child — classic peacemaker, semi-professional eye roller, and part-time referee between my siblings. I’ve got a wonderful older sister named Princess (yes, her name sets high expectations) and a younger brother named Emmanuel who, like most youngest siblings, knows how to get away with anything.
I’m currently married to my long-time partner and real-life plot twist, Heinrich. We’ve been together for what feels like a whole Netflix series, and we now have the most energetic (and sometimes chaotic) little boy named Xansus Nevik — he’s four, fearless, and knows how to unlock YouTube better than I do.
So...Why Am I Here? 🧐
To be honest, I’ve been a teacher for years — online, offline, whiteboard, Zoom board, name it. I’ve taught students from different countries, and each time I introduce myself in class, I always wonder...
“When do I get to introduce myself as me?”
Well, here I am, doing just that. This blog is my version of a coffee break — a place where I’m not just “Teacher Mary Rose,” but also a mom, a woman rediscovering her voice, and someone who still believes that words can connect people even across oceans.
What to Expect Here ☕✍️
I found @antonette’s post and was immediately drawn to what she shared. I reached out to her, and she warmly guided me through the platform. She took the time to explain the rules, especially the importance of sharing genuine, human-written content. I now fully understand that using AI for posts is not allowed, and I’m committed to staying true to my own voice.
Thanks to Antonette’s help, I feel more confident stepping into this space and sharing a part of myself with this community.
This blog won’t be perfect. Sometimes I might ramble. Other times I might get too emotional over something simple like a student’s thank-you message or a perfectly brewed cup of coffee. But I promise you this:
You’ll get honesty.
You’ll get stories — the funny ones, the messy ones, the meaningful ones.
And hopefully, you’ll feel a little less alone while reading them.
Oh, and if you’re wondering about the visuals — all the pictures I share here are personally edited by me using Canva. Just another way I like to add a personal touch.
Final Thoughts 🧠💛
This is just the beginning. I’m not trying to be deep or poetic here — I just want to write again, breathe a little, and connect with kind souls who understand how loud the quiet moments can be.
So if you’re still here… hi again. 😊 Thanks for reading, laughing (maybe?), and sharing this space with me.
Let’s grow together — as people, parents, dreamers, or just two strangers passing by the same blog post.
