Hello everyone!
Hope all are safe and well! ☺️❤️🙏
It’s a rainy evening again here in the Philippines. The wind is howling, and the raindrops are non-stop tapping on the roof, one of those nights when you just want to curl up in bed and do nothing. But of course, the tummy won’t agree with that. 😁
Since it’s raining hard, I didn’t bother going out to buy ingredients for dinner. Instead, I challenged myself to make the most of what’s already in the kitchen. Anything I could turn into a simple dish. Good thing I still had a few leftover veggies such as 1/2 piece of chayote, 1/2 piece of carrot, and about 1/4 portion of cabbage. I also got onion and two cloves of garlic. And luckily, I had some oyster sauce and Knorr cubes left. That’s enough to make a quick stir-fry veggie dish! ☺️❤️
We’re only two in the house, so it was just perfect! A little viand, just right for dinner. Nothing fancy, just simple food for simple people. ☺️❤️
Magic Shikika Recipe: Stir-Fry Veggies

✓ 1/2 pc - Chayote
✓ 1/2 pc - Carrot
✓ 1/4 portion - Cabbage
✓ 1 pc - Onion
✓ 2 cloves - Garlic
✓ 1 small sachet - Oyster sauce
✓ 1 pc - Knorr cube
✓ 2 tbsp - Soy sauce
✓ 1 tbsp - Cooking oil
Procedures:
- Peel the chayote, carrots, onion, and garlic.
- Slice the chayote and carrots into thin strips.
- Chop the cabbage, onion, and garlic.
- Heat cooking oil in a pot.
- Saute the garlic and onion until fragrant.
- Add the carrots and chayote. Stir well.
- Add soy sauce, oyster sauce and the Knorr cube.
- Add the cabbage and stir everything together.
- Let it simmer for a few minutes.
- Serve while hot and pair it with warm rice.
And just like that, our dinner was ready! It may be a humble viand, but it’s warm, flavorful, and definitely satisfying especially during this cold, rainy weather. There’s something comforting about cooking what’s available in your kitchen. You don’t need fancy ingredients to come up with a hearty meal. Sometimes, the best dishes are made from what’s already there. ❤️
That’s one of the things I love about cooking, making something out of almost nothing. It feels like magic. ☺️❤️
Another simple meal, another full belly, another grateful heart. ☺️❤️
Until my next Magic Shikika recipe. 🥰
