Hi, everyone!
I am going to take you virtually to a hidden paradise tucked inside Cagayan State University-Gonzaga Campus, Flourishing, Gonzaga, Cagayan, our very own CSU Bamboo Sanctuary.
This place is perfect not only for nature lovers and travelers but also for those who want to have a peaceful and refreshing escape.
Come, and I’ll take you on a short tour.
One of the prides of Cagayan State University Gonzaga Campus at is the famous Bamboo Sanctuary of the North. It is located just beside the Administration Building.
The Welcome Platform
Approaching the Administration Building, you will already notice the life-sized 15-meter-long platform “CSU BAMBOO SANCTUARY spelled out in bold. This is so big that you could park seven cars diagonally in front of it. Of course, you won’t miss taking pictures here.
But wait, how do I get inside the sanctuary?
The entrance is behind the platform.
The Buddha’s Belly Arch
As you walk in, you will be amazed by the welcome arch inspired by the giant Buddha’s belly, one of the many species of bamboo.
The Bamboo Merch Kiosk
But before entering, you also want to stop by the Bamboo Merch Kiosk, where different bamboo souvenirs are sold. We have here pens, tumblers, notebooks, bags, and some engineered bamboo products such as medals, plaques, frames, and more. I’ll feature these on my next blog, so stay tuned!
Right past the arch, you will walk by the bamboo archway as if you are being welcomed by soldiers holding up their swords.
As you enter, you can feel the cool air and hear the rustling bamboo leaves.
The Bamboo Cafe
Once inside, you will see different species of bamboo—yellow, black, green, and red shading the area. The restaurant called Bamboo Café is surrounded by bamboo. It is a great place to have tasty meals or snacks and a refreshing drink. You will surely enjoy your meal here with the nice ambiance.
Bamboo Kubos
If you wish to eat outside the restaurant, you may wish to have your food served on the kubos.
Sustainability at its best
The bamboo sanctuary grows about 200 species. If you want to get yourself one, bamboo propagules and plants are also sold at a reasonable price, plus you will also get free tips on how to grow and propagate these easily.
The Village
Inside the sanctuary is the Bamboo Village, which features the cabins where guests from the university or from other agencies stay as they visit our campus. The cabins are also available for booking. Just inform the restaurant staff if you wish to stay overnight.
Can I visit anytime?
The Bamboo Sanctuary is open to anyone who wants to see its beauty. If you wish to visit the place during weekends, you may wish to bring some snacks with you, for the café is only open during weekdays and is available for special bookings.
