Last Tuesday was a holiday, so we decided to for a short one day visit on top of the mountains.
I took photos along the way as I would like to show you the roads and the views along the way. Whenever I am on a travel on the mountains, I often see interesting and or beautiful views and really wanted to capture it. I could not ask any of my passengers as they are seated at the back and usually fast asleep on long trips.
I took photos with my phone as my cheap dash camera is busted. No worries though, I am very careful while taking photos as I am also the one handling the steering wheel.
Dangerous Curves
Unlike in the flat lands, our roads here runs along the sides of the mountains and are normally zigzag sharp curves.
The problem that makes this curves dangerous are motorists taking the shortcuts and not staying on their lanes. This is especially true to those who are not used to this kinds of roads where they fear that their car will bump the side of the road or even fall that they tend to occupy the other lane. Some may even attempt to pass another vehicle in this blind curves. It happened to me more than once where I almost collide to some of them.
Road Hazards
The additional factor that makes our road here dangerous are road hazards. The road hazards that are common to this road are falling rocks and landslides.
Motorist should be very careful of rolling stones from above and landslides from below that can drop them thousands of feet. This is especially true if the said hazard is behind a blind curve.
This is a one lane road where a major portion of the left lane is washed out. It is located on a start of a series of curve making it difficult to see any upcoming car going in the opposite direction.
I was about to move forward when I saw vehicles coming up so I decided to wait and took a photo at the same time. 😊
This is common on this road. This small rocks are usually scattered along the road which can puncture your wheels specially during a heavy storm or at night where we cannot easily see them.
This is a perfect example of landslides from above and below. Notice that this portion of the road is partially being held by the soil. They cannot close it as there is no other possible passage.
Free Natural Drinking Water
As I am following this truck along this curve, I noticed that there was another truck that is parked and refilling water coming from the mountain.
After passing a few curves, another similar scene presented itself before my eyes. I see a group of individuals fetching drinking from this fountain beside the road.
This is a common site on this side of the road, there are even times where motorists would line up to fetch natural and free water from this stream.
I decided to get down to take some photos and taste the water as well. If you are used to filtered water, you might find the taste of this water a little different.
The bottle at the center is intentionally left to serve as a cup for anyone who would like to use it to drink the water.
The water is crystal clear. I used my hand to drink directly from the pipe.
Rice Planting
As we continue along the road, this group of ladies caught our attention. Most of the rice fields have been planted in this area a month ago and it’s somewhat unusual to see someone still planting.
We drove past them but I decided to backup to take some photos of them doing the planting.
They are very happy and willingly allow me to take photos of them. 😊

Flowers at the Peak
Our trip continues from a two lane road to a one lane road. The problem that a visitor may find challenging here is what to do when they meet another vehicle going in the opposite direction.
As we reach the peak of the mountain, we are greeted by this spacious school near our destination. They have a lot of beautiful plants on the sides that I cannot help but take photos of some of the flowers.
