I finally made my dream Crochet Bucket hat! I have made many bucket hats and posted them here on Hive, but they are not for me. I made three identical bucket hats for my mother, mother-in-law, and her sister two years ago and last year, I made bucket hats for my children. Oh, I may have remembered, I also made one for myself but I gave it to an acquaintance we met on my child's birthday.
Left with nothing, I really wanted to make my own bucket hat. Crochet is my love, and my therapy even though there are times that I get frustrated because I can't make something that I wanted but I love it and never leave it.
I had a new cheap yarn bought at a thrift store last time and I ripped it off to make fur huge yarn balls.
Here's how did it:
I made a magic ring and added 12 double crochets in it closing with a slip stitch and started on the next round. I increased each stitch on the second round, then one increase, and two double crochets on the third. I made one increase and four double crochets in the sixth round. With that, I got the right circumference I needed for the base of the hat. To make the hat faster, I made an alternate chain and double crochets on the body of the hat.
For the brim I made (from which I left on the base of the hat) five double crochets and an increase, increasing three times until I finished the hat.
Then I tried it on!
I am very excited to wear the hat that I made and tried it on right away. It fits perfectly well and I love it! I took pictures as well to show them to my husband and you all.
Then I wondered whether the brim would give the shadow it should have. Just the right time I got hungry, I went to the canteen to buy some food. The canteen is on the west of the building and it got a lot of sun during afternoons; I had the right place at the right time.
My eyes had gotten more sensitive to bright light so I really need hats and sunglasses whenever I go out. I might be needing eyeglasses already but I still can't afford to have one yet. The hat perfectly gave the shadow I needed, and whenever it gets very hot, my head won't be hot because of the vents I made on the body.
I really loved my new hat! It could be easily made, it fits perfectly and it's not hot when worn. What about you, do you love hats or do you prefer umbrellas? I personally prefer it more than umbrellas, because I don't like it when my hands are being restrained in any possible way.
That will be all for now, see you around and keep safe!
