I read about such an interesting challenge in The Herbal Hive community. This challenge was very interesting for me because every day I used to process various plants to make medicine and herbs. I really like traditional and natural medicine, for some reason it's like that, even though I majored in chemistry, but I like herbs and nature. My friends at work always tell me jokes "You react too much to chemicals, so if you are sick you don't want to take factory-made medicines that come from chemicals".

There are so many herbal plants in this world with various properties and benefits. some are calming, some are appetizing, some are blood-circulating and many are herbal.
Ylang flower buds
To know the nature and efficacy of this herbal plant, we can read literature from various books or journals. But of course experience is the most important teacher. To use various plants into herbal medicine, of course we need a lot of time and experience from our community and also our own experience, there is no time to complain if our treatment fails, all we have to do is keep trying until it works.
Today I will share a recipe for getting the best rest time. The rest we usually do is sleep. It's not the amount of time to sleep but the quality of sleep that we can immediately feel the benefits when we wake up. according to the theme for today's challenge, which is herbs for rest, so I will divide the recipe into 2 parts, namely a recipe to calm nerves and a recipe to drink that will make us sleep better.
Ylang flower (Cananga odorata) to calm nerve cells
Sleep disturbances can usually occur due to wrong sleeping habits so that the body becomes tired due to lack of sleep, excessive anxiety, depression or because of taking certain drugs. To calm our nerve cells, I usually use natural aromatherapy in the form of plants that have a distinctive smell.
One of the plants that we can use to treat sleep disorders is ylang flower. This flower has a distinctive fragrance that can calm the nerves. The way to use ylang flowers to calm nerves is to mix fresh flowers into our bath water.
I once tried using ylang flowers to overcome my sleep problems after giving birth to my second child. the habit of sleeping in the afternoon, makes me unable to sleep at night, that's why I use ylang flowers for my sleep therapy.
The method I use is to boil 2 liters of water until it boils, after that I put two handfuls of fresh ylang flowers into the boiling water, then after the flowers wither turn off the stove. I put the boiled ylang flower water into my bath which contains approximately 10 liters of water, after I mixed it and I tried to adjust the temperature of the water in my body. The fragrance is fragrant immediately smells and makes me sleepy. You can soak in warm water containing this ylang flower and it will relax our nerves.
Star anise tea (Illicium verum) to help overcome sleep problems
After taking a bath with warm water that has been given ylang flowers, the body feels more relaxed and now it's time to drink Star anise tea . Star anise has long been known as a spice for various dishes, its sweet and fresh taste makes it can also be used as a drink.
Based on data sourced from https://www.alodokter.com/manfaat-bunga-lawang-bagi-kesehatan, the content of bioactive compounds contained in star anise are:
Tannins

Flavonoids, such as quercetin, kaempferol, and anthocyanins

Star anise has long been known in traditional communities to treat various health problems such as flu, cough, urinary tract infections and to prevent mosquito attacks from dengue fever. The efficacy of star anise as a traditional herb has been proven to be effective and based on the content of bioactive compounds contained in star anise, it can also be used as a medicine to treat insomnia.
How to use star anise tea to overcome insomnia is very easy to do, we just boil it. Some of the ingredients we need are :
50 grams of palm sugar
600 mL of water
6 pieces of star anise
cinnamon one knuckle
The steps for making star anise tea are :
The first step: put water into the pot
The second step: add palm sugar into a pot of water
The step three: put the cinnamon in a pot of water and palm sugar
The fourth step: add the star anise into a pot of water
The fifth step: boil the potion until it boils, after the potion boils immediately turn off the stove.
Star anise tea is ready to be served hot and drunk after it is warm.
After drinking star anise tea, we usually feel sleepy.
Tips: if you don't like the sweet taste of palm sugar, then you may not use palm sugar to make star anise tea, because star anise and cinnamon have a sweet taste too.
