This advent I'm building the Home Alone house out of Lego (it's set 21330 for those playing at home) which is designed as 24 bags or sections of pieces as well as drinking 24 Australian craft beers curated by Carwyn Cellars called canvent. So each day we have a new beer and a new bit of Lego to build.
Days 1 -3 are here
Day 4
The beer is from Banks brewery in Melbourne and called Ducks Fly Together
Just and outstanding beer, nice solid body wonderfully balanced with fruity hops Citra the standout as always so good 4.5/5
And as for the Lego - well we have the 'basement' and floor all done, the white pieces at the front are the snow covered garden and stairs. the little windows at the bottom the basement and the tan coloured floorboards throughout.
Day 5
Molly Rose are a brewery in Collingwood, in the inner city of Melbourne and not too far from here. This beer is called Fa La La Lah and is a fruited spiced ale. It is very fruity and refreshing combined with a red hue it makes it perfect an Australian Christmas 4.0/5
And we have our first wall - you are now getting a sense of the height of the first floor (there will be a second and an attic) In reality this was a pretty boring 15 minutes of building, looks of brown and not much else.
Day 6
Moffat Beach are a brewery on the Sunshine Coast just North of Brisbane - I've been there it is a stunning place. Their Christmassy brew is a Clambake Red Ale. So my partner jinked this by saying ‘I feel like canvent has been strong this year (it can be a little hit and miss as they are experimenting with these one off beers)’ this promises a lot a red ale with real mussels but it’s kinda dull - nice enough red ale but not exactly amazing. 3.75
The Lego slightly better as we now have a staircase built, not sure about the red colouring but hey, each to their own. It's hard to see in the pic but there is a little button at the top of the stairs which you press to send Kevin's toboggan flying down the stairs and out the front door.
Day 7
The brewery is Fox Friday and the beer is so aptly named Kevin (really not sure why, may or may not have anything to do with the main character of the classic Christmas movie) It's a Triple IPA from this Tasmanian brewery and it’s a corker, Citra hops all the way, 4.25/5
And in terms of the build we have a) Actual Kevin on his toboggan as well as a lounge room decorated with a Christmas trees, fireplace, stockings and alike. It's all starting to come together.
