Hi fellow Outdoorsmen,
We enjoyed some fun on the ice recently!

Iced Up
One of the things that I haven't done in many years is get some time out on a frozen lake!
Last year we didn't get a whole lot of really cold weather so we didn't get to spend a lot of time on the actual lake for some other reasons as well. This year though, one of the benefits of the insanely cold weather is that we got to enjoy some time actually out on the ice!
One of the cool things that I don't know what was happening necessarily here but there were some giant frost heaves on the lake!
There was quite a bit of vertical room between the base of the ice and these really big sheets. Underneath it was quite frozen as well
The large frost heaves were in more than one place as well, I'm curious to see if I can figure out at some point what causes them. We only saw them in one particular section of the lake which was interesting. I wonder if that has anything to do with it!
We ended up having a lot of fun walking on the ice. I was a little too nervous to walk on it last year, we didn't have a significant amount of cold weather that was a deep freeze. This year it was a lot different that's for sure! Insanely deep freeze and a hell of a lot of thick ice!
