It is written somewhere that man only changes his wallet when he's given a new one. It is a story as old as wallets themselves. But it is something one does not think about too often.
I remember my first wallet. It was a leather one bought from a teacher who did leatherworks and made these kind of things. I had that one for several years. Of course, I'm not counting those weird velcro wallets one used to get as a child. They are funny but not very good. Since I got my first one, all the wallets I have had have been some kind of gift or heirloom.
The previous one I had was something left in the belongings of my grandpa. I got that one along with a watch and other things given to me when they did all the pickings of stuff left after his death.
It was a good wallet. But I used it way too much. It was starting to fall apart. Then, as mom saw this happen, she decided to buy me a new one this year. This photos where taken somewhere around May or June. I can't remember when. But I decided to keep them around. The rite of the wallet is something very common. I bet it is the same in other countries.
Now I use a pouch bag, but I still carry the wallet in it. It is a better way of keeping it from all the wear and tear of having it in your pockets. Besides, keeping it in your back pockets is a problem as sitting on something and nit having a good sitting position can generate health issues with posture, scoliosis and else.
Here's to keeping that tradition of changing your wallet when someone gives you a new one!
