There is one part of the city I live in that I really like. It is the old part of the city center, which has an extra asset. History, which is much older than my life.
Fortunately, Bucharest, the city where I live was not entirely destroyed during the 50 years of communism. They didn't have the resources and time to do that. Thus, many buildings, streets, and even neighborhoods remained untouched. But many other places in the city have been demolished to build housing blocks that are totally devoid of beauty.
My favorite place is an entire boulevard, Victory Avenue. One of the oldest in the city. It's the only avenue that escaped massive demolition. Only a few new buildings, the rest are left of buildings built in the nineteenth and first part of the twentieth century.
I walk along this boulevard at least once a week, at the end of the week. Then I photograph as much as I can and now I want to show you what I saw standing at a crosswalk.

This is the Old Town area. As the name says, everything is old. This is where most foreign tourists come to visit the city. In terms of photography, everything old is black and white...

The street that falls perpendicular to Victory Avenue is an equally old street, formerly a street of stores and inns, a street of merchants. Lipscani Street.

On the left, we look along Victory Avenue towards University Square...

... and on the right side, on the other side of Victory Avenue, towards the end of the boulevard, where it meets the Dambovita River.

On this side is one of the few new buildings, the headquarters of a bank. Fortunately, it is a well-made building with interesting architecture. For a better view, I crossed to the opposite side of the street.

Immediately after this imposing building is the building that I consider the most beautiful on this avenue. The CEC Palace was also built to house a bank at the beginning of the twentieth century. Now it is still the headquarters of a bank, the only Romanian bank in... Romania.

This boulevard is quite colorful and lively, crowded and hectic. When I look at the black and white photos I see another city, from a time far in the past. Only the cobblestones of yesteryear have been replaced by cars.
This is my entry for the #monomad challenge!

Traveler to the city where I live is what I've been doing for many years, that is, I try to show what is more interesting, more important, and not necessarily what is more beautiful in the city where I live. I don't bypass the ugly places or the sometimes uncivilized behavior that I try to explain through the history of these places but I focus especially on what I think a visitor would like to see when he arrives for the first time in Bucharest. Bucharest, the capital of Romania, a member country of the EU, is located at the crossroads of Central, Eastern, and Southeast Europe. I'm going to use this tag #mycity and then put these places on the Pinmapple map for those who want to discover them more easily!
