Chicago is quite a town. The 72 hours or so I spent there earlier this week wasn't hardly even enough to begin to scratch the surface of the city, but it was enough to whet my appetite for more. We accidentally took the scenic route down Broadway in Gary, Indiana and that was its own special kind of interesting, going to have to make it back there too.
In high school, the librarian talked me into reading The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand for an essay contest. Never wrote the essay but I did come away with a fascination with architecture. Chicago managed to scratch that it pretty good, there was so many cool buildings. So many people too.
Was constantly torn between focusing on street photography and going for architectural shots. Trying to both at once mostly didn't work, except at the Bean. Going to have to go back and just focus on one or the other.
We just wandered around while we were there, didn't manage to hop onto the L. Next time, next time. Originally planned on going up to the observation deck in one of the skyscrapers but the clouds had other plans.
Plenty enough to see in the streets. The mounted cops seemed a bit out of place in the central business district, definitely didn't know what to do when I turned the camera on them.
Now if you'll excuse me, the ghost of Edmund Fitzgerald is calling . . .
