I could have spent the entire trip in Edinburgh, but alas that wasn't the tour schedule. But I could squeeze out 18 more photos to show you here, and two on the way out of town.
One of the craziest facts about John Knox that I learned in Edinburgh was that he was buried outside the church and eventually his grave was paved over. He is resting in parking spot 23 behind the cathedral.
Politics can't be escaped, especially global politics. Someone created a little shrine to remember Ukraine at the city's Mercat Cross.
Adam Smith still wasn't doing well when I passed by him.
There are lots of little details in the city, like the masks on the old drinking fountains.
And as in every city there are a million pigeons. They are alllllways watching,
And of course street performers could be found on many corners.
The last night was spent in the pub, as it should be, this particular pub is called the Mitre. Conveniently, it was directly across from the hotel.
American taps are so dull and boring compared to the ones in Scotland.
I was oddly intrigued by the urinal setup. Oddly beautiful for such a mundane and mildly crass object. Perhaps it was the beer goggles.
And in Scotland they give a proper pint, unlike the States where everything is just 12 oz when you measure it. The Budweiser is better too! Not gross like ours. Although I did notice most beers in the UK top out under 4.5% which is lower than our average.
The pigeons have competition!
I didn't get a chance to stop at this church so I'm not sure what it's called. I just thought it looked pretty through the rain covered bus window.
Finally headed out of Edinburgh! First crazy sight was the Kelpies, giant metal horse heads. Unfortunately, we didn't stop.
Crossing the River Forth, on to new adventures!
