I’m back with a new story—this time from a unique and intimate ceremony. It wasn’t a wedding or an engagement, but the couple’s first official celebration known as “Baleh Boroon” in Persian culture—a meaningful tradition where two families come together to formally acknowledge the couple’s union. Let’s dive into the story behind these frames.
The bride, elegant and serene, wore a silky white dress with simple, graceful lines. Her long veil, adorned with tiny pearls, shimmered gently as she moved. The groom stood tall beside her, wearing a textured grey blazer and a subtly dotted tie—his youthful poise matching the quiet strength in his gaze.
They stood side by side—careful, yet full of anticipation.
The ceremony took place in a small, well-decorated venue. The backdrop was a harmony of baby’s breath florals, warm-toned lighting, and delicate crystal strands hanging from the ceiling. The lighting was soft but not dull—enhanced with fabric reflectors that brought warmth and depth to the portraits.
Shooting in such a compact and enclosed space posed some challenges, particularly in lighting control and composition. The limited distance between the subjects and the background didn’t allow for an extremely shallow depth of field. So, I opted for a 50mm normal lens to strike the right balance—maintaining intimacy in the portraits while keeping visual clarity.
In these types of events, capturing raw emotion is far more important than stiff posing. One of my favorite shots was a tender moment where the groom leaned down to kiss the bride on her forehead—it wasn’t planned. It just happened. All I had to do was be ready.
In another frame, they were seated and turned their heads just slightly toward the camera—right at that perfect second when their expressions softened. These are the fleeting seconds that matter most.
Every detail—small flower arrangements, a minimalist two-tier cake, hand-decorated tables—was thoughtfully arranged. Nothing was extravagant, yet everything had purpose and heart. The photographs we captured weren’t just keepsakes—they were the start of a visual legacy. One that speaks of beginnings—pure, simple, yet full of quiet meaning.
For me, moments like these are what photography is truly about. When you look through the lens and know that you’re preserving something real, your responsibility is not just to the light or the angle, but to the truth of that moment.
