There are different criteria and many aspects to tell if a portrait photographer is great in what she does. Of course, it is always a matter of personal taste too.
Here, though, I would like to focus on one of them aspects. The posing. A great photographer knows and sees what the best poses and angles for the models are. More importantly, a great portrait photographer knows how to pose herself and thus is a great model too :)
So if you are in doubt before hiring a pro photographer for your new portraits, try how open minded she is by asking her to pose for you by showing you the best sides and angles :)
Now, can you guess what's going on in that first photo?
The people inside that picture are all photographer, some are pros, others - hobbyists :) All of them though, were willing posing for that group portrait photo in front of the 360 degree camera you may be seeing in the center :)
It was a presentation meeting for such type of 360 degree camera that I attended to, showing its features and capabilities. It was both useful and fun to attend to :)
