The other days I noticed something very curious: there are certain times of the day where the city is quite noisy, and from one moment to the next it enters a state of almost sepulchral silence. I noticed it when I was walking near the Old Square and decided to climb one of the buildings to take some pictures from the roof. As I went up everything became quieter and quieter until I heard practically nothing.

Los otros días me percaté de algo muy curioso: hay determinadas horas del día donde la ciudad es bastante ruidosa, y de un momento a otro entra en un estado de silencio casi sepulcral. Me di cuenta cuando caminaba cerca de la Plaza Vieja y decidí subir a uno de los edificios para tener unas fotos desde la azotea. A medida que iba subiendo todo se tornaba más silencioso hasta no escuchar prácticamente nada.
The height was not so high, only about 10 stories. Now what is spectacular is the view, there in the distance the National Capitol.
La altura no era tanta, apenas unos 10 pisos. Ahora lo que sí es la vista espectacular, allí a la distancia el Capitolio Nacional.
In the distance and in almost a perfect straight line Teniente Rey Street, ending at the end with the San Francisco de Asis Convent.
A la distancia y en casi una perfecta línea recta la calle Teniente Rey, terminando al final con el Convento San Francisco de Asís.
Mercaderes Street, in the mornings, is very crowded because on the corner there is a place where they sell delicious chocolate milkshakes.
La calle Mercaderes, en las mañanas, está bien llena de personas porque en la esquina hay un lugar donde venden batidos de chocolate exquisitos.
It looks like a city in pause, only a few old people are seen resting on the facades of the great colonial buildings.
Parece una ciudad en pausa, solo a algunos ancianos los ves descansar en las fachadas de los grandes edificios coloniales.
Narrow cobblestone streets make a perfect combination and, finally, the lights and shadows give it a certain air of mystery.
Calles estrechas y adoquinadas, hacen una combinación perfecta y, para terminar, las luces y sombras le dan cierto aire de misterio.
No matter how much I look up, the landscape seems to repeat itself. It is as if from the heights all the houses are the same; below is a different world, and as we take distance, the silence comes.

Por más que alce la vista, el paisaje parece repetirse. Es como si desde las alturas todas las casas fueran iguales; debajo es todo un mundo diferente, y conforme tomamos distancia, llega el silencio.
