In this photo series I did everything atypical compared to my usual way of shooting and editing—well, not everything, but a good chunk. First, I used flash (I’m not sure why I’ve been so against it, since I barely ever use it), and it gave my shots a very different look. I also photographed the textures of a tree trunk, when normally only leaves and flowers catch my eye. And even more, during editing I didn’t lean on contrast; I added a vignette and warmed up the black-and-white tones. I stepped out of my comfort zone because I need to explore, to learn, and to discover my style and make it better. These aren’t my best photos, nor my finest edits, but I really like them—and I hope you do, too.
