So it's Sunday and we are over the big hump. The days will get shorter finally. I don't known exactly why I like that so much. Maybe because I love winter here. Maybe because I have been in the sun for too long and less of it is ok with me. Southern California has it's own unique set of "problems" at least for me. Endless summer is not my idea of fun anymore. That could be "fixed' I suppose with things. Like a boat or two? A standup paddle board? A nice car with working AC? A home with a yard full of trees and plants and flowers? A driveway or a garage to park in? Friends to go out with? Money? A trip to the mountains? A trip to anywhere? Where I live I hope for wind and rain and cold to keep people away from my neighbourhood. Away from the beach. Yep, I'm a grumpy old man. being swarmed with cars full of people and all their noise and trash and no place to park is just not fun anymore.
P.S. I do live near the beach. I'm lucky I suppose. I want to tell you it's not a beach I would recommend anyone travel to to visit. The water is polluted from oil drilling islands and and platforms. There is an enormous port complex with dozens of huge freighters backed up and out off the beach. Long Beach has a breakwater that stops surf from coming in. There are several rivers that pour dirty water out into the ocean. The freeways are often like giant parking lots. Parking anywhere is hard to find and expensive. Street parking is tricky and it's easy to get an expensive ticket. My advice is go north! Or south! It's much prettier and cleaner.
