Hail to the Hive!
Well it has almost been a year since we sold Badger the Narrowboat and moved back on to land avyer a year and a half of boat life and I do miss it. A few days ago we nipped over to Totnes to buy some wine and things ( and of course stop for a beer in a cosy pub along the way) and I couldn’t help but notice the boats all moored up on the River Dart at Steamer Quay.
Even though it was a grey and fairly miserable day they caught my eye and imagination and had memories of living on the boat flooding back.
“Are we getting another boat?” I hear you cry. Hmmm well possibly. It is , shall we say, on the cards as it were.
For all its flaws and inconveniences it is a wonderful way to live. I always remembered feeling almost detached from the real world , or at least a regular lifestyle, living in a kind of between world when we were on the canals. A slower more relaxed pace where you had time to absorb your surroundings and take in the beauty of nature.
It has most certainly cast its spell over me and is luring me back, beckoning me to return to the watery way of life. I can feel its pull and am somewhat powerless to resist its charms, and why would I?
But patience, I must wait a little longer.
