Hail to the Hive!
As I trawl through all the shots I took on our recent trip to Cornwall I’m surprised my thumb didn’t get a blister with all the action it got as there were photo opportunities a plenty.
We took a day trip to St Ives while we were down there and my mind shot back to when myself and @millycf1976 were here together about 12 or so years back. It feels like a time warp as it looks exactly the same. And that’s a good thing as many seaside towns sell their soul to attract visitors and yet I feel they realize here that they shouldn’t fuck with something thats so damned cool to begin with. It’s lovely.
After a few pints of beer sat in the sun and a cornish pastie to fill our guts we took an aimless stroll abouth the town and I got a little sidetracked by the fishing paraphernalia on the pier/dock in the bay.
Camera in hand and never one to miss an opportunity I began to wander in and out the fishing pots snapping at his and that, kneeling down, looking at all the angles, look throughs and letting my eyes feast on everything and nothing and nosing about for stuff that intrigues me.
I love doing this, I feel like I’m on a hunt in some ways. Stalking my prey, which is the shot I really want.
Spying new views and being led astray by new sights seen. Loads of fun, especially after a few beers to fire up the imagination.
I wish I could just spend my days doing just this. Wandering, traveling, photographing the amazing and the obscure, the wonderful and the overlooked. Everything seems interesting from different perspectives.
And the obvious stuff too. Can’t beat a lighthouse. There’s something about them. Maybe its the shipwreck stories or maybe it’s imagining what they have witnessed over time, the stories they could tell if they only could.
Love a lighthouse. I also……….
