Some ordinary scenes I noticed today.
आज मैंने कुछ सामान्य दृश्य देखे।
The first two pictures are of a snail that i found on an old bench. The bench has been there for years and people use it everyday, hence the starched surface. The snail's shell had a perfect spiral pattern, and its little antennaes were reaching out probably to detect something. The scratches on the mental gives the whole frame a kind of history, as if the snail was crawling over years of marks left behind. I don’t know why, but the movement of a snail feels calming to me. It doesn’t rush, it just moves forward, inch by inch.
पहली दो तस्वीरें एक घोंघे की हैं जो मुझे एक पुरानी बेंच पर मिला था। बेंच वहाँ सालों से पड़ी है और लोग रोज़ाना इसका इस्तेमाल करते हैं, इसलिए इसकी सतह स्टार्च से सनी हुई है। घोंघे के खोल में एकदम सर्पिल पैटर्न था, और उसके छोटे-छोटे एंटीना शायद किसी चीज़ का पता लगाने के लिए बाहर की ओर निकले हुए थे। घोंघे के खोल पर खरोंचें पूरे फ्रेम को एक तरह का इतिहास देती हैं, मानो घोंघा बरसों पुराने निशानों पर रेंग रहा हो। पता नहीं क्यों, लेकिन घोंघे की हरकत मुझे सुकून देती है। वह जल्दी नहीं करता, बस इंच-इंच आगे बढ़ता रहता है।
Now a leaf ...After the rain, I noticed water drops sitting on it, holding on like tiny beads of glass. The leaf itself has these deep natural lines that almost look like folds on fabric. The drops seem to follow those lines, gathering in small groups. I crouched down close to look at them and realized how the drops reflect the world back in miniature.
अब एक पत्ता... बारिश के बाद, मैंने देखा कि पानी की बूँदें उस पर टिकी हुई हैं, मानो काँच के छोटे-छोटे मोती हों। पत्ते पर गहरी प्राकृतिक रेखाएँ हैं जो लगभग कपड़े पर सिलवटों जैसी लगती हैं। बूँदें उन रेखाओं का अनुसरण करती हुई, छोटे-छोटे समूहों में इकट्ठी होती हुई प्रतीत होती हैं। मैं उन्हें देखने के लिए पास झुका और महसूस किया कि कैसे बूँदें दुनिया को लघु रूप में प्रतिबिंबित करती हैं।
A construction worker stood by a half built house, his tools resting on the ground beside him. He wasn’t working..just quietly watching the sunset as the light broke through the clouds. I took the shot quickly, before the light shifted and the moment faded.
एक निर्माण मज़दूर आधे बने घर के पास खड़ा था, उसके औज़ार बगल में ज़मीन पर रखे थे। वह काम नहीं कर रहा था... बस चुपचाप सूर्यास्त को देख रहा था जैसे-जैसे बादलों के बीच से रोशनी आ रही थी। मैंने जल्दी से तस्वीर ले ली, इससे पहले कि रोशनी बदल जाए और वह पल फीका पड़ जाए।
The dogs are strays that live near my house. They’re friendly, and while I was busy taking pictures of a flower, they kept looking at me with curious eyes. It felt like they were trying to figure out what I was up to, so I ended up capturing their curious faces too.
ये कुत्ते आवारा हैं और मेरे घर के पास रहते हैं। ये बहुत मिलनसार हैं, और जब मैं एक फूल की तस्वीरें ले रहा था, तो ये मुझे उत्सुकता भरी नज़रों से देखते रहे। ऐसा लग रहा था जैसे ये जानने की कोशिश कर रहे हों कि मैं क्या कर रहा हूँ, इसलिए मैंने इनके उत्सुक चेहरों की भी तस्वीरें खींच लीं।
The cat was sitting outside a shop, looking calm and steady. It seemed to know the owner and was patiently waiting for them to come out.
बिल्ली एक दुकान के बाहर शांत और स्थिर बैठी थी। ऐसा लग रहा था जैसे वह मालिक को जानती हो और धैर्यपूर्वक उनके बाहर आने का इंतज़ार कर रही हो।
Looking back, these photos connect in a way I didn’t plan. Drops on a leaf, a snail, a man staring at the horizon, street dogs, a resting cat...small pieces of the day that I might have ignored if I wasn’t paying attention.
पीछे मुड़कर देखने पर, ये तस्वीरें एक ऐसे तरीके से जुड़ती हैं जिसकी मैंने कल्पना भी नहीं की थी। पत्ते पर बूँदें, घोंघा, क्षितिज को घूरता एक आदमी, गली के कुत्ते, आराम करती एक बिल्ली... दिन के छोटे-छोटे हिस्से जिन्हें शायद मैं अनदेखा कर देता अगर मैं ध्यान न देता।
