Let me talk to you on a personal level today....
This is straight out of the bible, and I saw it for myself. Just mean spirited wickedness that reminded me of...
Now let me be crystal clear....Most of us, myself included could fit the description laid out here in 2 Timothy. And no matter what translation of the bible you read, essentially this means in the last days of earth's history people are just going to be rotten.
And please note, I'm raising my hand as someone guilty as charged!
But what I saw today just blew my mind and all I thought about what this part of the bible...
First, I was told that I needed to give my head a shake and be better because....Wait for it....I didn't have a book in stock. From a nice elderly woman too.
Not only that she was outraged at the price of the things she bought and decided I was her punching bag.
An elderly woman, with the tongue of a viper spitting at me lol
Then next example was great.....Some man in about his early 30's decided (he wasn't a fan of my church' decided to cuss and raise his middle finger towards my store.
Not a big deal, but the kicker way....There was a yound girl in the store, about 5-6 years old with her parents that got to see it for herself.
The first thing she asks is...'Mommy what does &#%^##^% mean'?*
It really stopped me in my tracks....Look, I get dirt flung at me all the time, I'm Christian, it's supposed to be like this. But today just hit me differently.
I saw an elderly woman just angry at everything, which who knows what she was going through. So I pray for her!
And then the younger man, angry at the church for perhaps very good reasons. So I pray for him as well.
But this is the world we live in folks....It's beautiful day here after some storms rolled through. The sun is shining, the birds are out, you can hear laughter in the distance.....But the devil got his way around my store today.
This is why I believe, we need to guard our tongues. Make sure we represent the gift we have been given in Christ. It's a nasty world and I don't see it getting any better. Maybe we just need to make our world and community better around us first.
