It's been a while since I posted on chain and there's a reason why....
I'm back on the road.
When I got hired to my new job back in February, I knew there was a few times a year I'd be on the road for a few weeks. This week, is one of those weeks.
When you drive trucks for a living, being away from home is something every driver deals with. And it can be quite taxing on the family life. Imagine being on the road for almost a month at a time, without your loved ones around you....
That's being a trucker.
This new job though, is a little different.
The company I work for is big on family, and that meant I get to take my family with me on the trips when I'm away for weeks on end. Just before I left for my latest trip, my wife and I talked and we decided it would be a great experience for my middle kid to go on the road with me for a few weeks.
We left late Saturday and have gone to Regina, Saskatchewan and currently in Winnipeg, Manitoba. While we aren't travelling huge distances, he gets to be on the road with me for these few weeks. Which is such a blessing!
Of course, he fell asleep as soon as we left! But that's another story...
This new appreciation I have for 'making memories' with my family has kind of taken over my life this summer. A few weeks ago, my entire family spent a long weekend in Calgary. Now my son and I are on the road!
We just spent 4 days in Winnipeg, and are starting the journey home. But we're actually going to a summer camp for our church in Saskatchewan. Which should be a fantastic experience for him. This is new for us! New for me too, because of life situations over his entire life, we never got to do this.
And now we can!
And we are :)
Don't forget to spend time with your loved ones. These are the moments that will last a life time in their memories.
